Believe you will find people are saying salisbury did that, when 3 goals up witch a couple minutes left.

Seen a few posts on facies alleging that was the case.

A Kilburn player got red-carded before half-time.

What for? Generally you can replace a red carded player, although it's at the umpires discretion. It's a very, very harsh penalty to make a team play with 17 for the majority of the game.

The maximum the TEAM can be penalised for a red card is TEN minutes - the reported player may not be able to play any further - but Kilburn would have only been down one player for TEN minutes.....that's the rule.

So at worst - they were down one rotation for a half of football.....

From my vantage point (which is very close, mind you), I could easily see we had 5 blokes on the bench for the majority of the second half.

Despite what the rule may be, this is what I saw.

Not sure that is right. Red card is umpires discretion with time. It can be the rest of the game if he sees fit. Happened to us this year in a final at Lockleys we lost a guy early in the 2nd with a red and the umpire said he cant be replaced for the rest of the game then changed his mind at half time. We played with 17 on the field for 15minutes of the 2nd quarter.

The red card rule shouldnt be at discretion off the umpires it needs to be clear cut ruling . Person who gets the red card off for the game but can be replaced after 10mins seems a bad enough punishment for me!

Especailly for teams that heavily rotate off the bench!

If a Category “A” report is made by a field umpire the player shall be sent from the playing field for a minimum of ten (10) minutes or greater up to the maximum of the remainder of such match as determined by the reporting field umpire. The reporting umpire shall display a red card indicating that
a player has been reported for a Category “A” Offence. The field umpire shall escort the reported player from the field and inform the Interchange Steward of the details of the Category “A” report and the time imposed. The player may be replaced after ten (10) minutes of playing time.

Well then why are umpires not allowing players to be replaced?

I don't know about the Truscott red card and how long until he was replaced, but to anyone who thinks our A Grade was drinking alcohol in the last quarter while the game was in the balance is completely delusional. I would know, I was drinking from the said bottles during the game. Its good to see facts aren't getting in the way of the drunken rumours though.

Duncs, you clearly weren't at the game, if you were you would know that at no stage would anyone have said the game was done. Instead of relying on misinformation, if you wanted to get something as stupid as that confirmed or denied, how about just flicking us a PM instead of running with tripe?

There's no doubt there at all. It's pretty clear cut. The player "may" be replaced. Where is there any confusion? This is the opposite of saying the player "may not" be replaced.

MAY = Black, MAY NOT = White. No grey

And back to my original point, it seems like an especially harsh penalty (one man down for a half) to hand out in a grand final when so much is on the line.

The grey area is allowing umpires to do this can create bias its either a yellow off for 10 can replace or a red off for the game can replace after 10 mins
The whole leave it up to the umpires is rubbish they can barely call the game right let alone have the right to pick and choose if a player can or cant be replaced !

Great battle on Saturday, I know Salisbury are bleeding but they had a great year and went up. The Kilburn boys were fantastic and never gave up. 4 Come from behind wins in the last 5 games, (Salisbury twice and North Haven amongst them) says plenty of our team.

Good post, Pag.

I couldn't believe it when the rumour first surfaced, and I still can't. You guys are way too professional and disciplined to do that.

Agreed.

I for one never wrote us off, despite the feeling from the crowd that we were done.

On that, the atmosphere at Alberton was fantastic, and everyone was in good spirits.

Why would I be at mad monday?

The last quarter of that game is one of the best I've ever seen anywhere.

I said to Dale before the game that it would be a less than a kick result either way.

The crowd was huge, there were no dramas from anyone. Great day.
