Being able to put players on the veterans list and reduce amount included in cap, helps.

They've also been assisted in recent years by being able to get Frawley and Lake through free agency.

im pretty sure there is no such thing as a veterans list anymore.

also, get young kids holding their clubs to ransom and dictating where they want to go helps, i.e gunston.

Not a veterans list as such but some of their salary doesnt count towards the cap. Think it was about $120k per player this year

So many better choices for the norm smith don't think Cyril was at his most electric today, smith, Mitchell, frawley, Gibson and gaff just to name a few..

AFL have really got the after match presentation right

Andrew McLeod a great choice to hand out the norm smith and continuing to have the kids handing out the medals is a great touch

When the game was at it hottest Cryil was awesome. I have no issue with Cryil getting the norm smith. He was the difference early.

Thought he was well deserving.
Set the game up in the first half.
No problems with him getting it, a lot of tackles and smothers in there aswell

2 tackles?

Reckon there was a half dozen better players.

I can't get over the precision with which so many kicks and
hand passes hit those brown and yellow jumpers lace out.

And Hawthorn were pretty good at it too !

Most successful, yes. Best? Debatable. The Hawks are the "AFL All Stars" now. They've recruited exceptional well as the acquisitions of Frawley and Lake in particular have proven. There is an extra 44 players in the league now which means logically the standard cannot be the same. I still reckon that the current Hawks are t as good as Essendon 1999-01, Brisbane 1999-2004 and Geelong 2007-11. You could state a case for North and the Eagles in the nineties too. The competition is soft these days, Geelong made the top four last year for a start.

Hawthorn are without doubt the best drilled side that I can recall since the Eagles 1990-1994. Al Clarkson might go down as the best coach of all time. It's certainly up to the other clubs to catch up but Hawthorn are primed to win more flags as long as Cyril, Mitchell and Hodge stay sound.

regards,

REB

If possessions were all that mattered, Kane Cornes would be a legend of the game. With Cyril, you get 100% class & quality. Well deserved!

Congrats to the Hawks. Again the cream rose to the top. West Coast had their moments, but failed to capitalise often enough.

Oh the poor things !

W. Coast Travel East a dozen times for the season!

Hawthorn DONT DESERVE a HOME Grand Final but thats just the benefit the Victorian teams get regardless of whether they deserve it or not !
