Yes, that is true...

The coach of the Minor Premiers again said to say hello...

This time last year the Eagles fans wanted Godden gone. He has had a pretty decent squad the whole time he has been there and they have definately underachieved during his time IMO.
They should win it comfortably this year but time will tell

Is that because the Eagles have got better or others have dropped back

Bit of both. Just my opinion of course, but Norwood, Port, South and Sturt (who all played finals in 2014) had stronger seasons/better lists last year.
SAFC- 60 years...
StKFC- 58 years..

Ben Warren and Michael Godden said to say g'day ;)

I'm not sure you can count Ben Warren in that list just yet Phil. He inherited a pretty strong list with good depth and a pretty good footballing set up. The Redlegs were the reigning premiers afterall.
I think it would be better to judge him over the next couple of seasons starting with how well the Legs finish this year. Given where he started from even a fairly average coach would take two or three years to bugger everything up.
And before all you Redleg fans fire up, I'm not suggesting he is just average, I'm just saying it is too soon to start calling him of of the best

It's a tough one to analyse. Warren certainly inherited a pretty handy list, but he also lost numerous players (not just to Crows and the Power), and took over a club with a recruiting ban in place. That said, the Legs had a charmed run with injury in 2014 which helped a lot. To be honest I think with a lot of coaches you can't compare them until their days are over, or they've been in the system a long time. To that end Roy Laird would be my idea of the best coach in the competition, not that it really matters who's the best. Most of the coaches in place have pro's and cons. From the outside Gotch appears to be doing wonders at Noarlunga.

Pretty obvious mate, you're insinuation the minor premiership coach is the best or in the running, by the same logic a coach outside the 5 must be shit.

Gotch looks to be doing a fine job really, certainly hasn't had Warrens luck that's for sure!

Godden was almost as lucky as Warren and has struggled with high expectations since 2011.

Eagles record in finals since Flag in 2011 is very poor but the need for some change this season has seen

progress thankfully.
