He is a player with a heap of potential, watched quite a bit of him at VFL level, i think you may have slightly overpaid for him but he will be a good addition.

Players become much more talented during trade period!

Sure has and most possibly be playing in barrossa next year .. Absolute waste of talent. But I'm not sure he cares to much of what people think could be something he regrets Later in life I for one would of loved the opportunity he was given.

Depends on his reasons for quitting. If he's decided the life of a professional footballer isn't what he wants then he won't regret it.

Yep some people love the game but dont want the full on professional aspect of it. Recovery sessions and meetings after meetings would just be too much for some people.

Sounds like talks underway to break the ice in the 2 troublesome trades involving Dixon and Carlisle.
Apparantly the deal involves Port giving pick 10 and a future trade, possible first rounder to St Kilda. Saints give pick 10 to Essendon and their pick 5 to the Suns. A few later round swaps may be involved also

I'd be pretty filthy on Port if we went through with this.

That's pretty much 4 consecutive drafts where we sit out the first round.

Dixon is not worth 2 first round picks. Get it through your heads, GC.

You can't expect to get in players like Dixon, Toumpas and Ryder for nothing mate.

I think 2 first rounders for Dixon is a bit much, maybe pick 10 and then a second rounder at most.

I had no problems giving up a 1st and 2nd round pick for Ryder.

No-one can tell me that a key forward who has never managed more than 16 games in a season, and is being recruited based on potential to fill a need, is worth 2 first round picks.

If you ask me- Dixon is worth what we paid for Ryder. I would deal on pick 10 this year, plus next years 2nd rounder, which IMO, is a far better representation of market value.

And Tom Boyd isn't worth $1 million a season. Tall capable key forwards are probably the rarest commodities. As with anything, the less supply, the greater the demand.

That said I reckon you're suggestion of 2105 1st rounder + 2016 2nd rounder is pretty fair. Pity you can't get them interested in a Moore type to remove the 2nd pick.

This is what Ive been saying, Port have not got any top end talent via the draft since 2013 and now looks like this will continue until maybe 2017. Its going to leave a huge hole in 2-4 years time if they are not very careful.

Clearly we are backing the under 23 year olds in our group to develop into regular team members and commit to the club. I've listed our core group of youngsters previously, but I don't think we can go without any first rounders again next year.

If we give #10 away this year and then use our second and third rounders, that's ok for mine, if we give away next years second rounder, well, that's a long way off and trades / player swaps can always get you a second rounder without too much trouble.

Who knows, Young or Moore might get us a future second rounder that goes to St Kilda so we end up losing pick #10 and Moore/Young to get Dixon, that works for mine.

Yep- agree with this.

The bottom line is that we cannot allow ourselves to get reamed by giving away 2 first round picks.

Port don't have the patience nor the $$$$ to try and rebuild with youth.

It's all spend spend spend down at Alberton.

How's that profit looking for this year ??

Tom Bell to Brisbane has been done.

Good to see this trade get done. Well done to Carlton for ensuring he was able to get there.
