Like Nirvana they could of been so much more.

I don't know about Nirvana; some bands are/were best making a huge impact, then burning out quickly. Look at the Sex Pistols.

Who knows, maybe if Kurt hadn't died, Nirvana may have made some mediocre, middle-of-the-road albums, and diluted their influence. We've seen it happen with R.E.M.

I do agree with what you're saying for the most part though. One album (or song) can inspire a movement or generational shift, and through history, we've seen it.

Look at bands/artists like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Sex Pistols, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Nirvana et al.

I don't know if there's been a band/artist capable of doing that in the last 20 years.

Nirvana was the first group that sprung to my mind but least you get what I'm saying :)

Man on Fire was an absolute belter. Upper echelon of all time bests. Very edgy and a great cast and strong plot. Denzel at his very best.

Took the missus to see Crimson Peak last night.

To say this isn't my kind of movie is an understatement. I definitely was not looking forward to this.

When we walked in 5 mins before the previews started, the cinema was empty. Just us two. By time the movie started, there was one other couple in there. I guess I wasnt the only one that thought the trailer looked shit.

BUT, once the movie started, it kept my attention, and then I really got into it. I thought it would be another jump scare movie, which it is in parts. But very rarely.

The sets look amazing, and besides the clown from SOA as a clean cut doctor, I thought the acting was great.

Highly recommend for a date night movie. Probably wouldn't go with "da boyz" though. Take them to see Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. The trailer for that contained more tits and head explosions than most movies.

Snowpiercer

Watched this on Stan last night. Awesome movie. Never heard of it before, but its my kind of movie.

Post-apocalyptic, great story, great acting. Plot twist at the end is good.

I recommend it.

The Martian - the main thing I enjoyed about it was that it was based on a level of truth, as Scott was in the NASA control room when a discovery on Mars was made. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen only

Spielbergs latest with Tom Hanks, based on a true story.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, plenty of black humour throughout

sat in cinema 15 at Marion

The Imitation Game - Was relatively unfamiliar with the history around the Poms cracking the Enigma code in WW2. Excellent story with characters very well portrayed. Highly rate.

Was that the one that came out about year ago with that guy who plays Sherlock Holmes, Benadryl Cummerbund or whatever his name is?

Thats the one mate. I hadn't seen him in anything before, but he was exceptional as Alan Turing, the mastermind behind the de-coding "machine".

I heard his performance was pretty impressive, playing a smarty-pants with homosexual tendencies in an era where that was a no-no. He's very good as Sherlock Holmes (as above), which is currently on Thursday nights on ABC1 and worth a look. Martin Freeman plays the Dr Watson straight man well too.

I can't stand him - everything about him reeks of obnoxiousness, his face, his name, his accent.

If he were standing next to Jim Parsons on the side of the road, I'd have no hesitation in running them both over.
