Really? Where'd you hear that?

I doubt that will happen, he would have been told before heading to Gunelg.

Exactly, there was no chance of him being rookie listed by Port.

Draft has not happened yet. He has just committed to Glenelg if he is not picked up in any of the drafts.

The Pahhhhr's 3rds (SANFL reserves) certainly overachieved this year, and Sawford and Haarsma who finished 3rd and 4th in the reserves Magarey were a large part of the reason why. Once all of the old Magpies U/18 players have cleared the system, remains to be seen whether subbing in ammo and country players with little or no prior association with Port, and little chance of cracking a SANFL league game, will form the basis for a competitive SANFL reserves team. If this silly arrangement with AFL clubs playing their reserves in the SANFL is persisted with at all.

The Sturt Football Club is pleased to announce that Brodie Martin and Aidan Riley have signed to play for the Club for the next 2 years. Brodie returns to the Club after 8 years and 38 games with the Adelaide Football Club, while Aidan returns after 3 years with Adelaide and the past 2 seasons on Melbourne’s list.

Brodie and Aidan join Dillon Mullins (WWTFC) and Bradley Coulson (PAFC) as new signings to the Club for season 2016. Mullins is a 21 year old 201cm Ruckman who played 1 League game at the Eagles in 2015 and played in back to back Premierships at Reserves level. Coulson played in the Port Adelaide Academy team as a midfielder in 2015 and was a member of the championship winning SA Under 18 team in 2014.

The Club is also happy to announce that current players Ben Hansen and Brad Hartman have committed to season 2016.

Booney wrote:Glenelg’s collection of former Port Magpies has increased by two with the addition of promising midfielders Ben Sawford and Jack Haarsma.

Seeking greater opportunity at League level after displaying encouraging signs throughout season 2015, Sawford and Haarsma will add valuable depth to the Bays’ midfield rotation.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Glenelg coach Matt Lokan said the pair impressed him in the club’s nail-biting loss to the Magpies in Round 17 this year.

On that night, Haarsma booted the winning goal while collecting 19 disposals as Sawford racked up 40 possessions, 14 clearances, nine inside 50s and four goals.

They join Lokan, Terry Milera, Jake Johansen, Ben Nason and fellow recruit Luke Harder in starting their career at Alberton before heading to Brighton Road.

Lokan also confirmed the signings of country football stars Jack Kenny (midfield) and Matt Merrett (half-back) who will seek to kick-start their SANFL careers at Tigerland.

Pre-season training is set to begin with a gruelling time-trial on Saturday, with only a handful of Tigers restricted by injury.

Long-term knee victims Lonnie Hampton and Tim Sullivan are still recovering from conventional reconstructions while Hayden Jolly has undergone minor surgery on his ankle.

Former Carlton utility Pat McCarthy will be eased back into training as he continues to manage ongoing groin soreness.

Matt (Max) Merrett is somewhat of a meteoric signing.

We have a lot of lost talent to cover. Coad, Kurtze, Duldig, Bruggeman.
I think we need to be throwing huge money at someone.

Has not played a League Game for Glenelg. Is hard at it and very physical but sometimes this crosses the line, however gives it his all and gets it but just doesnt always use it well.

Liam Davis has announced he's leaving the Parade. Think it was always on the cards. Been an excellent workhorse in his three years with us, had to feel for him with the BS system we had going last season giving the forwards little chance.

Rated him as one of the best contested markers in the competition...

Alwasy impressed by his abaility to make a contest and crash a pack, as well...

Will be a big blow for the Legs, especially losing Michael Newton from the forward line depth, also..

Heard the Legs may be chasing a Tigers big man with just a small amount of previous Crows experience...
