Marsh, meanwhile, returns to the side for the first time since the fateful Trent Bridge Test of this year's Ashes series, having scored consistently if not prolifically for Western Australia in the interim. Marsh was always likely to be next in line for Khawaja, and none of his competitors have been able to do anything outstanding to usurp him.

"Shaun was unlucky to miss out on the squad for the first two Tests and since then has scored consistently in the Sheffield Shield," Marsh said, "so we believe he deserves this opportunity."

Shaun Marsh 32yrs old.
Recent scores:

Michael Klinger 35yrs old.

Age is against him unfortunately, they won't play him and Voges in the same side. Marsh isn't the answer though, blood another newbie like Carters or Bancroft and bat them at 4

Mitch Marsh would want to lift his game or Agar will take his spot.
Pattison def in. Hopefully stay fit.
Batting wise, who knows.Everyone wants someone different.
If Bancroft comes in, he has to open, so Burns could go to 4.

Why the love for Bancroft, apart from 111 against SA, his next best shield score is 25, also against SA.

Agar ain't going to replace Mitch Marsh, they have brought SOK into the squad as second spin option so that shows that Agar isn't in the mix

Carters and Dunk would go ok. Nicker Marsh in the squad, the kiwi slippers are warming there hands up.

Bowling wise. Patterson in my opinion. I just hope his body is up to it.

It's absolute horse shit, you play the best, most balanced XI going around at the time.

Rogers and Voges were no spring chickens and Marsh is getting well on in age too.

Pattinson wont last the 5 days unfortunately, promises the world but delivers atlas's.

On that note though, it's hard to weigh up the bowling pecking order nowadays.
