Yep dead right, and like last year, we look like missing the final once again after starting the season so well!

Looks like WA will go from 5th place to take the final spot.

Queensland will be second after today with WA possibly 3rd

Only Chris Lynn had a better first class average and I definitely feel like Maxwell's best is well in front of him. Seems to be scratching away today and batting a bit more normally. If he just plays the ball on its merits instead of trying to read the bowler I can see him being well and truly test class. Definitely would prefer him in whites to S. Marsh.

Maxwell averages 40 hiding himself in the middle order at Shield level, would average under 10 if he batted in the top 3. Shaun Marsh has at least proven himself as a top order batter at Shield level

Marsh averages 39 at first class level and for most of his career he has batted in the middle order.

Very lucky to have played as much test cricket as he has.

Agreed. Only scored about 11 Shield centuries in 15 years.

Cue more condemnation from the Redbacks' biggest critic - Ric Drewer.

Whilst I agree we have been pathetic lately, this further opens up the issue about our depth. Keeping in mind we have lost out best bowler to the NZ tour and best bat in Ferguson to an injury and it appears we simply just don't have the depth to cover it. Which has been over issue for such a long time now.

Depth is a massive problem and we havnt had it since the early 90's. I remember a guy putting together 2 1300 run seasons at grade level and not getting a look in. When was the last time anyone at grade level got even remotely close to those type of numbers

Agree, would be great get.

Unfortunately, there is no way in the world SACA will go after Tim Paine, especially while Tim Nielsen is in charge.

Just read his comments in paper today....."we have to be careful to give opportunity to our own players from Under 19 level upwards...".

Translated, that means, we will not be getting any keepers into our squad or my son Harry will not get handed a game.

Shows the conflict of interest having him in that role, you only have to watch training to see him throwing balls, etc for 2 hours to his own son, not worrying about anybody else. Laughable stuff!

So glad Siddons picked Alex Carey, he was the logical replacement for Ludeman, he is the nicest bloke and deserves his chance, hope he does well.

I'd go for Tom Triffit, he's a beauty. Younger and has a huge future if he gets his head right.

An interesting side show to the Grade cricket mergers. Are the Nielsons interested in becoming Western Peckers or have they burnt too many bridges?
