Reddeer wrote:At the Eagles AGM I asked the following questions to the board.
"What benefit has the club and the SANFL gained from the AFL teams in the competition?
One of the answers from the President was that the club's players gained tremendous satisfaction in being able to defeat a measuring stick such as a professional unit. The club did it for the first time last season.
My complaint about the comp being far from a level playing field was pretty much dismissed, probably because it provides the challenge to the amateurs!
Not much was provided as per finically gain.
I note that the promised extra 4000 attendees did not come to fruition, in fact the attendances dropped.
I made mention of some of the suggestions mooted regarding the AFL teams, i.e
No SANFL games at Alberton (Now in Eagles territory anyway)
Limit on number of professionals that can be played by AFL teams should they be at full strength
Less or no byes!!!
Why has Port still have a SANFL reserves team
What do the Port Power pay to play in the SANFL (seeing they chose to be an AFL club
NONE OF WHICH HAPPENED.
It probably will when the Crows and Port play in the Grand Final. Then maybe the penny will drop (after it is too late)
I was not howled down but the questions remained

Well done Redder for asking those questions, such a shame they didn't have the decency to answer truthfully to you.

Did they address the issue of a drop in memberships and attendances in 2015?

If the Crows and the Power played in the SANFL grand final the game could be played at Adelaide Oval no 2 with free entry perhaps as a picnic game.
This could save the SANFL money not opening Adelaide Oval with a crowd under 3000.

Don't you believe it, there would be bandwagonners that had never gone to an SANFL game coming out of the woodwork looking for something to watch after their A grades had failed again.

Yep agree if they ever made a GF there would be a massive crowd and you can bet you all the mainstream media outlets would pump the shite out of the game.

Koch inherited, by AFL decree, the Port Adelaide Football Club presidency in October 2012 after the Brett Duncanson administration became worn down by its fight to restructure the Power licence away from SANFL control and the failing stadium deal at Football Park.

Probably belongs here . I got half way through the article and read the above. Said to my mate "guarantee I know who wrote this ". Correct

The licence should have been sold for much more ( both Franchises) . But to blame that is typical. Next is the stadium deal . Do they stop whinging about themselves ? Everyones fault bar Port. 200 odd grand profit . Good work, I reckon North make more . Where will this Franchise go when they fall again ? Who will they blame next as I can't see a new Oval being built .

The locals not turing up to watch their Seconds & Thirds side play
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Even they couldnt **** it up this year. Their AO revenue increases from something like 4.5 to 6.5mil (cant recall exact figures but something like tnat I think).

Hence if they made a profit last season then they should do better next season and start working through there debt problems.

I agree with al the anti AFL reserves sentiment. Howevr Glenelg need to accept blame too. Is this the reason why a poster no longer posts. In safe hands then.

Who's the poster who's gone into hiding?

Anyhoo, I would've thought that Glenelg's prickly financial situation is more a fault of the board and less to do with the introduction of the AFL reserves sides (although this would be a factor in falling revenue like lower memberships and match-day attendances).

What is the $3 million debt owed to the council and the bank for?

And I quote
