Got to hand it to the young skipper.

3 weeks ago we were little to no chance, he was stuck in a drought, played a shocker for a first ball globe in WA then he's stood up with 134 and 192 to lead us to victory in the last two games. He's clearly got the side behind him and since Cooper and Ludemann have been omitted it's looking like a side all pulling in the same direction ( not saying they were a bad influence ).

Well done young man, well done. Bright future for the boy seems to be getting brighter.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

most definitely. If you made first innings points, the first thought was always to bat long enough to not lose, and then worry about winning after that.

Would probably be the first time the redbacks have made the shield and one day finals in the same season

Looked through a few of the scorecards and noticed that Travis Dean of Victoria had a weird season, his average dropping from a million after the first three matches to just over forty:

154* & 109*
DNB & DNB
84 & 19
6 & 0
12 & 33
22 & 50
60 & 26
9 & 41
11 & 1
4 & 0

Not sure the guys who came in have been the difference. The guys who have really performed are the blokes who have been there all year. However, I do hope this means he's either found the balance between his batting and his captaincy or just figured out what it takes to score runs at this level.

Vics current RR is 1.33, hope that continues tomorrow and they just bat the day out.

They'll be doing whatever they can to bat the day, there's a final in it for them. But 7 wickets in hand a a full day's play, that's a massive ask.

Isn't a lot of this achieved in Div 2 County Games though?

Also, **** did I not think this was going to happen!

I thought the same about Hogan's figures being skewed by his time at Glamorgan but I have checked his Sheffield Shield record, which prior to this last match of his career was 60 matches, 789 runs from 87 innings and 37 not outs for an average of 15.78 and 221 wickets at 27.09.

I know that he has scored more runs at number 11 than any other cricketer in Sheffield Shield history. We all remember those two partnerships that managed to sink SA about 3 years ago.

Given the selectors love of WA cricketers he would have to consider himself very, very unlucky not to have been chosen for higher honours. I guess that his career, which only started at age 28 coincided with the emergence of many fine pace prospects.

Change to the points system has helped but the poor standard of batting ATM has a bit to do with it also. Teams just seem unwilling or unable to bat a day out anymore.
There isn't a lot of depth in the batting department in Australia ATM which is a bit of a concern.

I think there are good batsmen at the Shield level: Bancroft, Renshaw, Head, Lehman, Maddinson, Patterson, Carters, Stonis, Doran, Silk (last two currently dropped), Lynn, Handscombe but they all have that label "potential" alongside them still

Some are starting to show it but most of them have a way to go yet to move from what John Dyson would call the "Tim Tam" stage to the "Sao" stage.

Bancroft. Lynn and Head doing the most at this stage of the 2015-16 season to ahve the "potential" term dropped.

FWIW afternoon and evening showers forecast in Alice today witht eh chance of Thunderstorms.

My money is on a NSW win still - shit low slow wicket at Traeger with very lush outfield. To make runs you have to hit the ball in the air. Day four on that track the ball will be doing unpredictable things LBWs big chance!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If we cannot play home, would we rather play the Vics in Alice Springs or NSW at Coffs Harbour?

I would rather the Vics
