State Team

Postby Bounce of the ball » Wed Mar 23, 2016 9:20 am

West End State Coach Graham Cornes will be joined by his son in the coaches box, with Kane joining the panel of assistants for the clash with the VFL on May 29.

Already performing his role as Glenelg Development Coach this year, Kane Cornes will also be flanked by fellow assistants Tony Bamford and Heath Younie while Stephen Rowe will continue as Chairman of Selectors.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Kane Cornes said he is looking forward to the opportunity given his deep pride for South Australia.

The 2004 AFL premiership player will also bring a modern perspective to the group, something his father Graham was keen to engage this year.

Also speaking on SANFL Radio, Graham Cornes said he expected no shortage of arguments with his youngest son.

Both Cornes' will be present at several SANFL matches across the Easter weekend as they begin to consider selecting the initial West End State squad to host the Vics on Adelaide Oval.

The VFL will be coached by former West Adelaide mentor Andy Collins with Norwood premiership captain Kieran McGuinness to act as one of Collins' assistants.

What's the difference with Bamford at South and Cornes at Glenelg?

Edited to reflect reality. If Kane Cornes gets fed up I guess he can quit and join the fire brigade.

They are not AFL reserves sides.
Anyone associated with either reserve sides shouldn't have anything to do with the SANFL state side IMO

Oh please, what does Graham Cornes have to do with the SANFL, he's an Adelaide Crows ambassador. Rowe? He's got one AFL arm up his arse running his mouth and it's hardly a "state" team.

You could call it a team of random players picked from the SANFL competition that not many people have any interest in ... but its not very catchy !!!!

I wouldn't call it a state league either

Cornes coached last year, IIRC.

Kerls would need a Zimmer frame or an Island Star Pop-Top from Noel's Caravans to get the coach's messages out.

So your saying that nobody has aby interest in while your in the SANFL section of a forum called SAFooty.

Are you still upset at the crows attempt to be labeled a state team so that they could wear the SA gurnsey?

Why do the SANFL bother with this.

Surely it costs them more money than they make back.

State footy for my generation is just not relevant at any level AFL, SANFL or anything else.

If Joel Cross and Brett Eddy get season ending injuries I bet every single South supporter will be saying the same thing!!!!
