We should of gone with our strengths, we have the best pace attack in the comp so juice up the deck and back ourselves in to roll them. Completely negated our key weapons by producing that shocker of a pitch

Why did head take the ball at start of the play today? And then continue to bowl his stuff?
Seriously, that's his biggest knock this year. He continues to bowl himself way too much and at the wrong times.

And that's why you bowl strike bowlers 1st and not part timers.

I just can't believe the Redbacks threw their chances again. Every time the Redbacks find themselves a chance of taking home some silverwear. Especially when the odds are in favour this time. They always manage to find a way to f&%k things up and lose it themselves. What a embarrassment for SA cricket.

In reality it seems now that we are always only making up numbers. No one remembers who comes second. If you ain't 1st your last.

If only we had a 12 team district comp, would have won it easily today.

That's a huge over reaction and typical waiting until the result to sink the boots. We lost in the end yes, but at times were in winning positions too.
I have been a bit harsh on here too, but mostly in jest and truth is making the shield final is an improvement on previous years and the redbacks have some good young cricketers coming through. Disappointing yes, but not the end of the world for SA cricket by a long shot.

Victoria have been very lucky this season. They were handed full points for the pitch not being up to standard early in the season against NSW and then they cheated in this game with basically no penalty.

Well that performance shows where are weaknesses are.......mental toughness when batting and the need for a 2nd spinner in the squad.

We lost our number 3 and best bat for the 2nd half of the season, our best swing bowler and spinner were called up for higher honours at crucial points in the season as well yet we still made the final in the 2 formats the Redbacks play in. Cosgrove whilst wasn't poor he failed to convert any start to a big score however he still contributed.

We have unearthed a challenger for the Openers spot. Jake Weatherald, Mark Cosgrove, Sam Raphael and Kelvin Smith to compete for them next season. Think Cooper is in real trouble to retain his spot in the squad, He's never been the same since November 2015 for obvious reasons. Ludeman is as good as gone also, despite still having 12 months left on his contract. Ferguson back for the 2nd half of the season next year.

Our Shield leading wicket taker is off contract and possibly Zampa might get a CA deal? Opie not really convinced at present has been around the squad for a while now and finally broke into the team this season. Tasmania have plenty of squad spots available with a dozen blokes off contract for them. Keep hearing they are chasing talent from interstate.

Calm down everyone. We were in this game for a bit and it wasnt a lack of ability or lack of talent that cost us. It was poor shot selection in the 2nd dig when we needed to put runs on the board. If course we could have done with a spinner but Zampa was over seas with Aust unfortunately. We can look back and learn from where we went wrong. It will be important moving forward for guys like Weatherald and Lehman to make sure they remember this.

Looking at our fast men. They tolied hard, but was always difficult when Sayers went down. Also would have been nice to have Richardson and then as mentioned before the spin of Zampa as well.

The worst thing is we were all here barracking for the Vic NSW, draw where if NSW had won, I could have handled us losing away at Coffs Harbour. Losing home shield finals just never happens FFS

Would much rather sit here and lament a missed opportunity like today, than to reflect on a season of disappointment sitting at the bottom of the ladder.

Made the final in all formats this year (including BBL), unearthed some talent and most of all finally had blokes knocking on the doors of AUS selection!

SA Cricket is in a far better place now than it was 3yrs ago - we are no longer just making up numbers.

Also Cossie cops a lot of criticism for not living up to the standard we know he's capable of - but he's still a solid opener and the best option we currently have until some of these younger lads develop more.

Would any of the other young lads hit 500+ opening?
