Crows 2016

Talk on the national game

I was impressed by the games of Lever and Brown. Both seemed to be let off the leash a little more. Brown had 26 touches which is surely a career high, usually takes him 2 games to get that. Gives us so much more attacking drive when he can join the offense. Having both Cheney and Hartigan in the same team allowed Cheney to take the smaller defender and then allowed Brown to be a little more attacking.

Lever (and Hartigan too) were awesome as the intercept marking players. Both left their men to create contests that they might not have last year, which speaks to their development and the confidence they had.

Any changes this weekend? Too top heavy for Richmond's forward line maybe? I see them going in unchanged.

Think we will be unchanged, they will probably bring in Maric and play 2 rucks and one will rest FWD with Vickery and Jack.

Geez I loved watching Milera play on the weekend, can see some Andrew McLeod in the way he plays. Accumulates possies, high efficiency and can break a line. Hope he develops into half as good a player as Andy…

Massively. JJ's improvement had been massive the past 2 seasons. If we get 50 goals from each of him Betts and Tex we will go along way to winning more games that we loose.

You only need to kick more goals than the mob your playing to win. A 1 pt win still gets you 4 points in the minor round. 150 net from the keys forwards in a season is huge (I think) and that alone would see you win 80% of the home/away season. That gets you in the top 4.

Whatever, I hope my lads can string 2 wins together and thumb their nose at WADA.

Not sure I agree that 150 goals from 3 players puts you in the top 4. Definitely doesn't hurt (and there's always Lynch in the mix up there doing a good job too) but that's something like 8 goals a game. Getting goals from mids and defenders is a must and I'm not entirely sure our mids hit the scoreboard enough at the moment.

Reckon your lads have done enough damage to themselves and the club thumbing their noses at WADA. Perhaps they should accept responsibility for their actions for once and let everyone move on.

Some of his instinctive movements when he gains possession you can not teach. One possession where we sucked 2 Port defenders and then split them with a swift, sideways movement and then went on to hit a target.

Love to see him in 3-4 years if he keeps improving.

If you have 3 key forwards kicking 50 goals each, chances are you midfield is pumping ok and you would be doing fairly well.

Owes a bit to the Crows I reckon. Picked him up on a trade when a rookie and pumped alot of time and effort into him, unlike Essendon who was planning on pumping other things into him.

Last year we had Betts (63), Walker (59) and Jenkins (46) kick 168 between them.

So 150 doesn't mean we are going to be top 4, don't even reckon it would mean guarantee top 8.

150 between two, or 200 between 3 on the other hand... That would have to mean we have had a very positive season.

That's less than 7 goals a game, total.

Plays the role of the 2nd Tall and then chop out Ruck well. Allows them to play only Jacobs as the sole Ruckmen. Very good start to his season and as Booney said his manager would be pleased.

A couple of times watching Jenkins on the weekend I was loving it seeing such a big guy run like a gazelle. He certainly made the right move leaving basketball (was a training squad member with Townsville) to take up footy.

Who would've thought when Tippett left we would immediately fill the void with a near like for like replacement.
