Read ruccis article today. What an unbiased piece covering the real issues of SA football :-)

The crows promised 3000 appparently :-)

Rucci reckons that the Crows have pretty much satisfied their promise of 3,000 people per game because on average this year each Ravens' match has attracted an average of 2,900-odd.

But I recall that they were going to bring an additional 3,000 (or was it 4,000, IIRC?) Crows fans to games, that is, on top of the existing proper fans from the opposition. This means more than 3,000 people. On this basis the Crows have failed.

Anyone know the crowd for today's game against Glenelg?

Chapman definitely promised 4,000 Crows fans.

It appears to have already been mentioned but for the record:

A growing group of SANFL clubs is eager to pull the pin on AFL reserves in the State league. The push is on to return to the 2013 model in which all AFL players who earn senior selection at Adelaide and Port Adelaide are farmed to their original SANFL clubs or the teams they are assigned in the so-called SANFL mini-draft.

CROWDS: Adelaide’s submission to the SANFL declared a Crows reserves team would bring an average 3000 through the turnstiles. This season the figures are: 2162 at West Adelaide’s unfurling of the 2015 SANFL flag at Richmond; 2323 at the SANFL Showdown at Mannum; and 4252 against Woodville-West Torrens at Oval Avenue.

The average is: 2912. This not far from the 3000 promised by the Crows who play no home games and allow SANFL clubs to collect all the spoils from their games. But there is the concern for the Crows have no SANFL supporter base — a difficulty considering virtually every Crows fan has an SANFL allegiance.

FAIRNESS: SANFL diehards take issue with how their teams are asked to compete with a total wage bill that can be less than the cheque handed to one AFL star playing in the State league.

So far, in a reassuring note that money does not buy SANFL flags, the past two State league premierships have been won by traditionally formed teams at Norwood and West Adelaide. Only one AFL reserves team — Port Adelaide in 2014 — has reached the grand final at Adelaide Oval.

TELEVISION: Channel Seven is far from a lock to screen the SANFL’s million-dollar investment in live telecasts of “match of the week” next year. Channel Nine may be interested. But if there is no guaranteed television partner for the SANFL, the debate on keeping AFL reserves teams in the State league changes dramatically — to kick them out.

I'll stand to be corrected (since I have to pay to read it again), but IIRC Rucci's list of issues with the reserves sides ignored the most important point - the integrity of the comp. Not that there's anything surprising about that.

The SANFL clubs can have as many meetings as they want but Crows and Power wont allow it to go back to the old system. Crows worked too hard to get their reserves side. They will leave all together if forced to choose and go to VFL or Amatuers League

Damn right they did. It takes a helluva lot of effort to think up a bunch of nonsense you don't really believe in, and then try to convince everyone til you're blue in the face that it's true.

Agree
They wont even consider making the comp slightly LEVEL by restricting the AFL numbers to about 13/14 and also I reckon that their players should be ineligible to play against the team from whom they were recruited i.e. Grigg v Norwood, etc

Unfortunately it is us detractors that are BLUE IN THE FACE in trying to convince the powers that be in control to return some FAIRNESS into our comp

The AFL sides won't leave and AFL-SA won't entertain removing them, a compromise is the only way forward.

Hint: pressure you clubs along these lines, it's the only chance of (limited) success, think of what would satisfy AFL-SA, the AFL clubs and the SANFL clubs, this is the Holy Grail.

A simple solution staring everyone in the face is to just change one thing, the AFL sides do not receive premiership points.

That just proves they are in it for only as a practice comp, completely compromises the whole thing to what it has now become.

No, that would just condone the childish actions of a few who put their personal ambitions ahead off their club's.

The SANFL clubs would still receive points for matches against AFL sides.
