Victor trailed the Creeks all day and never looked like winning until they slammed on 5 goals in the last 10 minutes to hit the front with a minute to go. A goal on the siren made it a 7 point win
VH 16 - 7 Def Creeks 14 - 12
Creeks got out to a 5 goal lead in the 2nd quarter b4 Victor came back with the wind to level the scores at half time.
The 3rd Quarter saw the Creeks dominate the 1st half as they peppered the goals to get out to a 4 goal lead but some crucial late goals into the wind limited their deficit to 17 points at 3/4 time as a goal to the Creeks from a set shot was disallowed after the siren as the umpire ruled a push in the back on the goal line. Creeks dominated the the 1st 18 minutes of the last quarter kicking 2 goals into the wind to Victors 1 and had several chances to extend their lead to 5 goals inside the last 10 minutes but didnt convert and left the door open for Victor who took the invitation as the evidence of the advantage of the wind was still there as they bombed a few goals from a long way out to create panic in the Hawk camp. Trying to hang on and protect their lead for the last 5 minutes was the wrong move as Victor with several centre clearances and some accurate kicks for goal hit the front inside the last minute and hung on.
Creeks probably played the better footy on the day but Victor with 2 bursts of goals late in the 2nd and 4th quarters with the wind combined with accurate kicking for goal saw them home whilst the Hawks would be gutted to go down after working so hard to have control of the game for so long only to see it slip in a matter of minutes.

Pretty fair assessment there JJ. Creek were definitely the better side for the majority of the game and looked to have it sown up.
Was an amazing final few minutes.
Another 3 lads played their first a grade game for VH. With 4 senior colt aged boys in the side, along with one ruckman playing his first ever senior game and big Banksy stepping up to ruck after one run in the Bs it was a great effort.

Interested to hear people's thoughts on McLaren this year?
Clearly struggling, have not really got close to the teams they have played, with a new coach was this expected?

Not sure of your question exactly...I think GSFL SC are under 17.5 as at 1/1/16.....and my understanding is a team only gets a maximum of -2 points no matter how many colts play.

But anyway 4 played that are eligible for SC (2 have played SC this year, 2 that haven't).

2 out of 5 not totally unexpected as apart from Strath over McLaren the other 4 games could have gone either way with no surprise as most of them did.

In the night game at the Creek last night played under PERFECT conditions with not a drop of the forecast rain in sight, Creeks burst out of the blocks and dominated the 1st 7 - 8 minutes to put 2 - 2 on the board to nothing. From that point on until half time, Myponga / Sellicks completely dominated the game to kick the next 8 - 5 without the Creeks looking like scoring. Pongy looked very sharp and precise with their movement of the ball with plenty of run and support whilst the Hawks just couldnt get their hands on the ball and as a consequence were forever chasing jumpers and when they did get the ball were put under enormous pressure resulting in many turnovers.
With the game all but over at half time, Creeks being 9 goals down, they at least showed some of their earlier season form and ran the game out hard to outscore the Mudlarks by a few goals in the 2nd half. Myp 17 -11 Def Creeks 10 - 10
