Are you surprised?

Yeah, considering the AFL's stance on making contact with the head.
Whether he would've got suspended or not is another thing but it's got me buggered how he wasn't at least sighted.

Our current form won't get close to Geelong.
Or Sydney, Hawthorn & GWS for that matter.

You blokes have gone out hard, early. Long season, I expect you will feel it mid season. Whether you come back to good form when it really matters, is what it is all about. You have a game that will worry the heavy weights at the business end if the season. Managing personnel now becomes the key...

The thing is, I actually don't think we've gone out hard. There certainly was a focus by the coaching group on a much, much better start to the season compared to previously, but having a really tough second half of the season as opposed to the first, has helped our cause.
So far,
R1 Adelaide - tough grinding win
R2 Brisbane - never really got out of second gear
R3 Melbourne - played 2 & a bit good qtrs, leaders stood up when it counted
R4 Freo - absorbed everything they threw at us & ran away comfortably
R5 Gold Coast - 2nd gear again
R6 Bulldogs - probably our best win, great defensive effort
R7 St.Kilda - controlled the game for 3 qtrs, found a way to win when looked gone
R7 Essendon - probably our easiest game so far, shut up shop at 3qt
I think we're currently playing at 60-65%, I'm not overly concerned yet as I know players are already being managed. We would be possibly 4 & 4 or 5 & 3 in the past, so for now I'll take 8-0.
We know the challenge is still ahead of us, no one's getting big headed or ahead of themselves.

Toughest win out of that lot was the Bulldogs game. Adelaide might have been a different story had it been away.
You are beating whoever the opposition is, and that's the name of the game.
Do you think they are saving themselves for the tougher sides, and just doing enough to get the job done? The toughest side you played was the Bullies and you beat them convincingly, yet sort of just got over the line against less powerful opponents IMO.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I reckon the biggest difference is they have won all the close games, rather than lose all of them like they did a few years ago, and win some like the last year or two. Percentage tells a story there.

But they have clearly improved as well.

I reckon Geelong are the team to beat right now but north could be the ones to play them

Winning a few close ones early does the world of good for players confidence, the difference between being mid table and looking down on everyone
