Trembath deserves a crack at it, has been very good in the twos. Great to see Fields has recovered from his knock, and Gulden is a handy in.

Power reserves appear stronger on paper than the past month or so.

Not at all confident, record at Alberton very poor recently (well, for 100+ years really). Hopefully last week was just an aberration.

I think South will recover to just edge this one.
Port appear to be stronger this week but South should be hungrier after last week

South some big outs, Port a couple of handy ins, but South should be too good. Looking forward to this one.

How will Panfers fans cope with the new feeling of expectation on weekends instead of trepidation?

Not so sure about trepidation Booney? Port ressies a lot stronger this week and South somewhat weaker, at Alberton it looks like a Port win. We will really miss Crabb (who would take Butcher), Bass in ruck, Irra for speed, Daniel and DeVisser down back, if South have depth it will now be tested.

Well, for some time you would have headed to games unsure of what lay ahead, now you head to games with the expectation of winning. It's a different mindset for players and fans alike.

Booney as a 50 year Panther fan apart from the early 70's and late 80's when trepidation did accompany me to games, i, like many other Southies have always had a feeling of anticipation which reflects enthusiasm and resilience as opposed to trepidation reflecting fear which is one of the many reasons we have such a loyal (albeit small) supporter base. I still think Port will win this one however there is no trepidation, i do however understand your point.

Interesting aside,on May 20th 1876 South Adelaide Football Club played their first game against a now defunct club Victorian, which after 3 hours Victorian scored a goal, the only score for the game, they were flooding way back then! The other reason we love our club is it's survival, 140 years old, never changed our colours, never merged, never folded, eleven premierships. Against some mighty odds South Adelaide Football Club celebrates our 140 year survival this weekend.

Cats eat birds.
Let's hope the Panthers will be shitting black and white feathers after this one.
Classic good v evil. Tradition v plastic. Heart v money.
Whatever dichotomy through which to view this one, South Adelaide come up looking like a well polished, smooth running Rolls Royce against a clunky, shit-box jeep.
Come on Panthers! Do it for South Australia. 8)
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

You're free to do whatever you want JTC, but I seriously believe that what has happened to the Magpies is a disgrace.
I have been a real believer in their continued existence in the SANFL but they're a shell now. I'd rather they die off than endure this zombie like incarnation. They are currently a club without heart, nor tradition. You'll find those things in abundance down at Pantherland. The contrast is more extreme when you consider their respective stances on the AFL reserves issue. Good v evil IMO.
Doing it for South Australia is tongue in cheek, but I thought people would get that.

Oops, was meant to be a ;)
Seriously, I agree with you to some extent. But remember that it was 'the' Port Adelaide, the true and original Magpies, that wanted to join the AFL. The team that went on to compete in the SANFL wasn't the Mapies of old, but a new incarnation, that was simply re-incorporated into the Port Adelaide Football Club.
In the late 60's and early 70's as a North supporter living in S.A. the North v Port was always my favourite game and to some extent still was up until the advent of the AFL Reserves. They were always our rivals to me, as much as the Bay's were to North fans in the 80's and Westies in the 90's. I guess to comes down to what was your formative years of footy.

And I agree with you, the SANFL is poorer for not having the true Port Adelaide competing in it. But unfortunately those days are gone no matter what happens to the Reserves.

Made the trip to Alberton for the first time since the Magpies became the Power Reserves. Not a great decision in hindsight.

First term was entertaining enough, however it was evident early that if Port capitalised when going forward it was going to be a long day. Port dominated the second, only 3 late goals keeping South in the contest, however a poor bit of defence work on the siren handed the momentum back to the hosts. Port did as they pleased after the interval.

South's defence looked all at sea today. A few outs and a lack of pressure up-field on the Port runners didn't help. To give up 20 goals in those conditions is unacceptable. Port killed South 'on the outside', given too much space and too quick.

Ex- Magpies Rose and Haren named South's best. Very poor couple of weeks (very un-Gotch like performances), state game perhaps coming at a good time.

What's the lowest recorded crowd in Alberton history? I think those few diehards who did attend today may have been part of history..shockingly small.

Had to be less than 1000 there today.

The Port diehards have gone. Outside "west end" wing empty of Port supporters.

South have a small passionate fan base but reckon we just about out did Port support there today.

The game - one of the worst performances I have seen since Gotch took the reigns ....

Lots of passengers today.

If the side thinks it's just going to happen , it ain't !!

Need belief , hunger and passion to come back .... The bye will hopefully see us regroup for North at home.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

If it was over 1000 it was only the staff who tipped it over, 'Tiser says 1300 odd. Not sure if that is right, anywho, South looked very slow on the outside today, granted Port have some leg speed with our midfield group but when the ball got outside South looked one paced.

1327. Must have counted limbs.

Agree Booney on the lack of pace, was evident against Sturt the following week also. Irra has been a big loss, Hitchcock's form has dropped off a bit, while the other quicker 'outside' blokes like Rankine and Barnes didn't get a heap of it, although Barnes did make his possies count. The likes of Cross, Liddle, Seccull, Schwarz and Gotch are not what you'd call quick.

Terrible news for Tarak Redigolo:

South Adelaide defender Tarak Redigolo is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after injuring his knee against Port Adelaide Magpies at Alberton Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Redigolo injured his right knee in the final minutes of the Panthers loss to Port Adelaide, with South Adelaide Football Manager, Neill Sharpe revealing the small defender is unlikely to return to the field in 2016.

"Tarak hurt his knee in the closing stages of the game against Port," said Sharpe.

"He will see a specialist during the week, but the early diagnosis is that he has torn his ACL and will likely be out of action for the rest of the season.

"Tarak is a fantastic ambassador for our Club and a dedicated worker and respected leader. We wish him well in his recovery."

The Panthers joint Vice-Captain's injured right knee is the same knee that he had reconstructed in 2014.

That is bad news, especially with it being the same knee.
Will he play again at SANFL level do you think?
