In the games I have seen (and I've seen plenty) the West teams have not even got close to the South teams

The MSJFL U16s were in MWJFL a couple of years ago, and not much has changed in the difference between the quality of the teams.

I heard there was an all-in brawl in one of the U16.5 games last week.

Seems like an even spread throughout the grades, it many cases a western team is sitting top, then a few southern teams fulfilling the next few places.

Only one team from the MWJFL is sitting on top of the ladder, other than Brighton in a couple of grades all the other top positions are held by teams who played in the MSJFL last year.

Yep last few years, Lockleys too

Lots of big wins have occurred even with the South middle/lower table teams against the West teams

Oh, I've been out of the metro west loop for some time now. Was going to take my lad out to Flinders with a few of his team mates from last season but he decided he wanted to play up a grade and have a season playing with his cousins at Salisbury North.

Four weeks into the new comp and I must say the level of umpiring has been outstanding IMO, yesterday we played Unley in a very physical and tough game and the umpiring was first rate. All 4 weeks so far have been well umpired. far better than previous years.

For anyone who has an afternoon spare, take the time to go and see an Unley Jets under 13 game (lucky I only have to see them twice this year). They have a lad, number 35, who easily would be the best junior player I have seen. Does everything. Yesterday with a wet soggy ball, kicked 5 goals as a midfielder and was roosting the ball a good 50m. Almost has the size and body shape to play SANFL already and he is only 12.Best of all though he seemed a really nice kid, often patting our kids, the opposition, on the back and saying well done. Our kids are small but their effort was first rate and I think he appreciated the challenge. He could have been the "hero" and really hurt a couple of our smaller kids but showed be was better than that, IMO deserves to be recognized for his sportsmanship.

I was at a game yesterday where a parent threatened to kick the coach in the teeth for leaving his kid on the bench for the first half.

I'm glad none of the parents in my U9's side are like that - I've seen some competitive parents on the sidelines from other clubs though and it's a little amusing haha!

Must say pretty happy with my NEMJFA experience as a coach - umpires haven't been too bad - first round I had the best little umpire I've see in a long time, and the others have openly advised they're learning and new before games and had really consistent efforts.

TTG U9 Black coach deserves a beer too, very supportive coach during the game offering encouragement and support to both sides.. definitely makes it a far more enjoyable game to be involved in.

Yeah, I could understand his anguish though, I escorted him away and around the back of the change rooms to let him vent to me and give him my support if he was willing to shut up for the remainder of the game and deal with it through the correct channels.

It was under 12's, there really is no reason why a kid should be benched for a whole half straight up unless they mis-behaved at training or didn't attend.
It all ended well and a little mediation simmered it all down, the kid played his best game for the year when he went on.

Yes, the umpiring has been very good from what I've seen, I know they are struggling for adequate umpires in the older age groups though.

Been pretty impressed with the umps as well this season in the U16's well until Friday nights game. Was totally over umpired which got the players on both sides frustrated. Lets let them get the ball and be able to play on, was too many ticky touch decisions, for both sides. Didn't affect the result of the game, the better side on the night won but hell it was frustrating watching the game stopping and starting, would have been over 50 frees paid for the game

Brodlach, great to see Ali Fleming put his hand up and coach the under 13s while scott is away. There's 5-6 senior players now involved with our junior teams now. I know it's a big thrill for these young kids to have senior players helping out. Along with the junior carnival it's a great way to build a club culture.

How do other clubs go with senior players helping out with the juniors on a Sunday?

Ingle Farm are trying to get seniors more actively involved. I'm fortunate that I coach the B grade so I've already got a close connection to the players, so I regularly have a few seniors during the week help out both nights with training my U9's, and on home games I have senior players do goal umpiring and ground marshal so I can free up parents to watch.

My B grade assistant is involved with our 14's, so he is getting a lot of support with them as well now.

I've found my kids in the 9s absolutely love and thrive off having the seniors - even if it's an average C grader helping they look at them like they're AFL players lol! Also having them rock up to their games Sunday mornings gives them a real buzz.

It is great to have the seniors involved Scottroo, Al seems like a good bloke. It is something I have been talking about for a while.

It was really good to see BFG and a handful of others come out to watch our away game yesterday, I know the kids liked it and in turn makes them want to go out to watch the seniors. Great for the whole club. I reckon in our 4 games we would have had at least a dozen different senior players come and watch our games.

Have to echo the above sentiments about the umpiring on sunday in the clg v Unley game. The young fella was outstanding, hope he sticks with it. Also number 35 from Unley, sweet jesus that boy/man could play but was even more impressed by his actions after the game where he wholeheartedly congratulated our boys on a good effort. He could've rucked and really hurt some of our lads but played on the ball and didn't use his size to hurt any players even when he had numerous chances to do so.

First junior game I've seen this year and I'll make sure to get out to a few more. We've got some really talented kids in that grade and the whole team has a massive crack even when they are undersized so hopefully they can all keep playing and end up in one of our senior squads. Would be great for us to have an U/18 team in a few years time as well.
