so frustrated with yesterdays adjudication, any chance you could come back?

After the game I umpired on Saturday I think I would've preferred a B Grade metro game. 61 goals, a 38 minute first quarter and 40+ minute third.

Not very often you start a game Saturday and it ends Sunday morning LOL

smart man like you should've put yourself at Angle Vale's forward line - all you would've had to do was throw the ball up all day

I had Angle Vale's end in the first quarter, we ended up just having one ump do the Mallala 50 and the other cover the rest of the ground.

Well done, Dave Rogers, on your first win as A grade coach, as Elizabeth collected the points against Pultney on Saturday.
Would've been a nice boost as he headed off to H's 40th.

Good stuff, I really hope Dave gets through this season and then rebuilds for next season, he's a champion of a bloke and was a true gentleman and club stalwart on the field, I wish him all the success possible, he's had a tough initiation with a lack of resources but I'm sure he'll find the positives out of every game.

Aww shucks, cheers mate, I just try getting through un-noticed, to me that's what umpires should aim for, I've learnt so much from being in the APFL though, shit that I just took for granted doing club B Grade umpiring.

The power of the signal straight away was the best bit of advice I've been given by the great Doug Tallboy who is the hands down the best umpire I've seen.

Champion bloke.
I remember as a 10yo that I got grumpy at one of his decisions - he pulled me aside straight away, had a quiet chat, like a mate, and told me to get on with the game. He then spoke to me after the game. No histrionics, no extra penalty or ongoing hassling - no uppity response.
Since then, whenever we bump into each other, we always say "g'day" and have a chat, if possible.
A really good example for any umpire.

Come on guys, can we get back to talking about me?

One day when I was umpiring with Doug at Mallala some random chick was walking across the oval at quarter time talking on her phone, he walked over to her and reefed the phone out of her hand and said into it "How ya going? It's Doug here" The chick didn't know him from a bar of soap and had no idea what to do, it's was friggin hilarious.

Doug was one of the few approachable umpires in the APFL when seeking clarification on his decisions, top notch umpire.

Throw in the top side is an experienced hard at it, big intimidating kind of side while the bottom team is a younger, quicker much smaller side.
