Fine, you win.. [-(

Haha great use of the emoji's and a proud winner right here :partyman:
But i don't want to win on here, I want to win to Saturday.
Hoping the result is much different to that in round 1. BL had a fair few new players in the side who hadn't played together that day but have now played 9 games together so should be a more aware of each other's abilities and strengths which should put us in a better position to tackle who I think is the best team in the competition. I think we have the ability and the talent in the side to match it with them... Will be a good test to see where BL are really at.

 think most would agree Zartan wins on points. For a club doing that is rumored (yes clearly we shouldn't be talking about Brahma's fiscal advantage I know) most looking from the outside, would consider anything less than a premiership at Brahma land would make them look like a joke.......again

Hello... yet another outsider who knows all the intimate details of BLFC and the 'apparent' bulk $$ they spend on players?? If you attended the clubs AGM last week you would of seen the clubs financials and could have formed your own opinion rather than speculating on 'rumours'...

Zartan's Mid Year Review - West Croydon
A Grade
Won - 8
Lost – 0
Drawn - 1
Percentage – 72.21%
Position – 1st
Players Used - 29
Run Home: A – H – A – H – H – A – H – A - H
Most Goals – Luke Woodcock (30 goals)
Most Valuable – Jacob Sumner

West Croydon have paid their dues. Preliminary finalists the past two seasons, the Hawks decided enough was enough, and brought back premiership coach Mat McPherson, as well as former A grade forward Jeb Stubberfield to oversee the B grade as part of a full change in coaching personnel. The Hawks topped up their already impressive list, and the result – an 8/0/1 first half of the season, undefeated with the TOS draw their only hiccup so far, to sit aloft the premiership table.

Long serving champion Luke Woodcock has proven formidable up forward, collecting 30 goals so far to lead a swag of Hawks goal kickers. Cam McKinnon and Kyle O’Toole with 22 goals each highlight the firepower West Croydon possess.

Last season’s D6 medallist Jacob Sumner has picked up where he left off, and is arguably their most valuable player. Despite only being recorded amongst the best once this year, I think anyone whose seen Sumner would agree his electrifying pace, footwork and contested ball efforts make him one of the best. Nicholas Symons and Ryan Davies have performed well to earn the plaudits of the coaching panel, while Luke Nicholls is another who appears to be flying under the radar, and is arguably the Hawks second most dangerous player behind Sumner.

A side that will be hunted in the second half, the challenge for the Hawks will be to maintain their start – or have they peaked too early? A favourable draw in front of them, they won’t hold any fears of the upcoming fixtures. Minor premiership is theirs to lose from here, and a Grand Final appearance seems all but a formality at the moment.

Rating: A+

B Grade
Won - 9
Lost - 0
Percentage – 72.89%
Position – 1st
Players Used - 41
Run Home: A – H – A – H – H – A – H – A - H
Most Goals – David Campbell (33 goals)
Most Valuable – Dylan Emery

Arguably the biggest surprise packed for 2016 has been the emergence and subsequent dominance of the Hawks B grade. After winning just 5x games in 2015 and missing the finals, the Hawks were coming from a long way back to be considered competitive let alone a contender, but thanks to some astute recruiting and their ability to keep most of their side together regularly (only 41 players used – lowest in the div), they’ve taken the comp by storm to find themselves a perfect 9/0 at the hallway point.

David Campbell has been the big revelation for West Croydon, with the former B grade captain returning to the B grade this season after a year in the 1s, and it seems he’s come back a far better player, terrorising fullbacks on his way to 33 goals so far. His main partner in crime Elias Cuellar not to be outdone has slotted 29 goals from Centre Half Forward and proven to be a pivotal cog in the Hawks line-up.

The experienced Dylan Emery is the Hawks most valuable, with 16 goals and 5x in the best players, Emery along with David Sawtell have been the catalyst for the West Croydon start to the seasons.

As with the A grade, the Hawks will become the hunted over the back half, and their depth will be tested at times. Should they maintain a consistent side, top 2 if not top spot is guaranteed. They should win between 7-9 games to close the season.

Zartan's Mid Year Review - Woodville South
A Grade
Won - 8
Lost – 1
Percentage – 57.02%
Position – 2nd
Players Used - 30
Run Home: H – A – H – A – H – A – H – A - H
Most Goals – Chris Clark (23 goals)
Most Valuable – Matthew Burns

Woodville South aren’t new to D6, and history shows when they land in this division, it’s not for long. The last time the Cats found themselves in this grade, they went on to claim both the A grade and B grade flags – followed up the year after with the infamous drawn GF in D5. They know what needs to be done and how to do it – 8/1 record at the turn of the season justifies that claim.

The biggest key for the Cats can be summed up in one word – Depth. This is evident as you look over the season results in their 3x senior grades – collectively 23 victories from 27 matches.

Chris Clark has proven the big focal point up forward, with the strongly built forward collecting 23 goals so far this season. Vlad Zecevic’s 15 goals and Michael McNeil’s 13 goals also shows that the Cats are more than a one man band, and have several avenues to goal.

The most valuable this season, it’s hard to go past Matthew Burns. 10 goals to support the coaches giving him the nod amongst the best on 4 occasions. Alex Dankiewicz could also well stake claims to that title, and has been in scintillating form this season along with Joel Matthews.

An interesting draw from here, the Cats face West Croydon and Brahma Lodge away – their biggest challenges on the road, but have a comfortable month that features home games against Mawson Lakes and Fitzroy and an away clash against the depleted Houghton Districts. From here the sky’s the limit – if they’re good enough, they could well go better than their start, finish the season with 9/0 and a certain top 2 spot – potentially even top spot.

Rating: A+

B Grade
Won - 8
Lost - 1
Percentage – 68.61%
Position – 2nd
Players Used - 47
Run Home: H – A – H – A – H – A – H – A - H
Most Goals – Jason O’Regan (30 goals)
Most Valuable – Mark Coppola

As with the A grade, the last time the B grade Cats found themselves in D6R, they collected a premiership and bid adieu to the competition as it returned to D5R. They haven’t wasted anytime in stamping their claims this year either, and enter the midway point with an almost perfect 8/1 record – their only blemish coming against the undefeated West Croydon.

Jason O’Regan has been a massive presence up forward, with the solid built left footer helping himself to 30 goals so far this season. Feeding off O’Regan, the more agile Josh Todd is proving a perfect complement with 20 goals himself, and Chris Swanson’s smarts around goal have netted him 15 majors.

The most valuable is a difficult one to spot in a team that is consistent across the board, but Mark Coppola amongst the best 5 times in his 8 games gets the nod. Athletic ruck Scott Ridgeway is the other that is having a stellar season – 4x games in the C grade for 4x times in best, has come to the B grade and added 4x best player ticks to his name from 5 games.

Oodles of experience and class amongst this group, arguably the best side I’ve seen dispose by foot in the past few seasons in D6R, and aided by the quality of depth below in the C grade, it’s hard to see anything less than a top 2 finish for the Cats and a crack at repeating history with another D6R flag come seasons end.

This is the side to beat for the flag.

:) Well that was a quiet Friday for a change. Everyone is busy at work obviously. Zartan has used up all his brownie points I guess.

My tips for tomorrow

West Croydon over Blodge, just because 10/20 pts
Mitchell Pk over Lakes, we ain't that bad, 20/30 pts
Woody Sth over Luthies by plenty
Farmers over Fitzroy, will be closer than most think, 20/30 pts
Trinity over Houghton, just.

The top 4 are set but I reckon the 5/10 teams are going to end up determining their end of year spots.

;) I would like to say thanks to the Lakers faithful for enjoying a frothie or two in our clubrooms after the game Saturday. Great for a few lads to catch up, especially the Para Hills boys who have found their way in to both clubs after a tough period at their club. Grass roots footy is alive and well regardless of results.

I'd give up every single one of our reserves wins for one more A grade win.

All due respect to the Lakers, the better side, but I felt we had the run of the play and dominated large chunks of the game but couldn't convert or got stitched one way or another. Frustrating. Very Frustrating.
