Let's say hypothetically the club was making 1 million a year profit, then chose to spend 15 million doing their club rooms up, with an expected lifetime of 20 years, are they still profitable? They would take a big hit to the bottom line in both construction costs and then depreciation of assets, but in the long run still very sustainable (and improving due to AO)

Reckon that's what is happening here but that's just a guess as I try and make sense of the report. But not sure.

Looking forward to the challenge in Perth this weekend. Next 6 weeks can really set the season up if we can get through it with only 2 losses. On the flip side we can easily lose 3-5 and if we lose 4-5 we will then be in a shit fight for a top 8 spot. There is a few games there that now don't look as easier prospects as they did at the start of the year.

I think if we are ever going to beat the Eagles in Perth it will be this week. We have had a good 3 weeks with relatively ‘easier games’ against GC and St Kilda. We have a healthy list and boys should be up for the challenge!

I would make two changes this week.

Mckay in for Henderson
Thompson in for Douglas (who has been down on form the last 4-5 weeks)

Really liking the position we are in at the moment. Like the Hawthorns and Geelong’s at their peak, if an injury strikes a replacement can come in like Crouch and have 30 touches. Brad Crouch, CEY, VB etc are still in the SANFL waiting for their chance!

Yeah we have been very fortunate with injuries so far, touch wood. Used only 27 players apparently which is a competition low.

Players like the crouches, CEY, knight etc would normally be playing more than they have.

Reckon your ins and outs are pretty good there. Hendo has been good but lacks the penetration of Mackay, and he was pretty good this year before his injury. Lyons can play the same role as dougy.

I reckon Brad crouch comes back after our bye in two weeks, assuming continued good sanfl form.

I've been impressed with Lyons and he has got better with each game he has played, to drop him this week for Thommo i think would be the wrong move. Dougy has lacked that zip and touch he usually has, not sure what is wrong with him. M Crouch is just a ball magnet (Priddis mould) who i think just has to play.

I think that is what the plan would have been for Brad, play 4 in the SANFL, get some continuity and some touch back in his game and hopefully have a massive 2nd half of the year.

If we knock of WCE in Perth it goes a long way to saying we can finish top 4. If that plays out form to date this season suggests we only lose 2 more games for the rest of the year at worst and 16-6 should get you a top 4 spot. I'm still skeptical that we concede too many points. In saying that we have scored the most points in the comp and easily had the hardest draw. After this week we have played the entire top 8 in the first 12 rounds. Pretty fair effort to date when you consider where we finished last year, the losses over the off season and the unsettled nature of the club over the last 2 years. A lot of cudos probably needs to go to the Snr Management of the club in the way they have held it together. They copped a lot of flak for 2-3 years and rightly so but they have done a lot right since Fagan has arrived.

For what it's worth REB I don't think we are good enough nor consistent enough yet to beat WCE in Perth. Reckon we can take it up to them though.... Looking forward to seeing how Pyke handles his old club.

I feel like we will be in the game at some stage, it will be just how we handle that. Against Hawthorn and WB we didnt handle it well. This will be a good test to see if we have improved since then

Walker is fitter than when we played both of them and with the other talls in the forward line we will stretch their defence.

I think we have the right mix of inside/outside mids at the moment with Atkins/Cameron/Milera playing a bit more through the midfield/high half forward. We had too many inside mids at the start of the year.

Pyke's plan was always going to take time for opposition teams to properly observe and counter attack. Geelong were the first team to properly break it down and there was always going to be a response from some degree from Adelaide and changes made. Other teams will find ways to challenge them again and it will most likely be this week.

Come finals time if they make it do Adelaide have the true class, depth and talent needed to win big matches through the middle third of the ground? I honestly don't think there are doubts in the front and back thirds. Time will tell.

**Edit**- WB were probably the first team to break it down, however they did not really cap off their work and still gave Adelaide a chance.
