I guess wait and see the outcome of the meeting Monday night.

Every outcome from a meeting so far has been a further threat to the existence of WT and PA.

The same people are still on the board. Clearly those involved in Grade cricket that are on the Board are pretty keen to get rid of the two clubs. Every decision they've made has been a kick in the guts and the likes of Phillips, Snewin, Adcock etc still have the hide to be involved and Bernhardt somehow still has a job. I wouldn't be too confident while these individuals and others are still on the board/employed.

Looks like Port Adelaide and West Torrens will definitely be part of the Premier div 1 comp next season. But will Glenelg................. Are they indebted to the debt ridden football club so much they are probably not viable. Maybe their financial situation should be scrutinised as much as the whole of the PA & WT cricket clubs have been. Did the SACA make a commitment to the GCC/Oval that they now might regret. Where does the Glenelg oval now sit with the renovations/upgrading of Adelaide Oval No2 and Railways Oval. Is Woodville Oval held in higher esteem, with the WCC getting their recent get of jail free pass!!!

Careful associating the Football Club Debt with the Cricket Club! There were some influential Glenelg Cricket Club members seething with rage at the insinuation of such an accusation during the Shield Final.

From where I sit I get the impression SACA want to steal the Matador Cup off the Eastern States. With Adelaide Oval likely off limits during September leaves it with Railways/Park 25 no.1 once redeveloped. Towards then end of September Glenelg & Woodville Ovals would become available with some careful negotiation with the winter users. With the Final of this competition during mid October Adelaide Oval will be available to host the final.

How would the cricket clubs go if their footy clubs folded? Particularly Glenelg and Woodville? Do they make much income during footy season? Would either venue be viable if there was no footy in winter?

Sounds like good news for East Torrens if Liberals win the election with an announcement of $5m to go with the council's $5m to redevelop Campbelltown Memorial Oval.

And sound-proof fences around the perimeter to stop the constant drone of traffic from the two main roads

Common on SACA show some balls and let the two clubs involved, players, supporters and cricket lovers in general what is happening. This water drip torture does nothing for anybody involved and just builds up hate against SACA.

Does your club's Grade Cricket Committee delegate not communicate with his club committee?

First Hearing for the Select Commitee today too I believe......

At this stage it has nothing to do with the Grade Cricket Committee/WT delegate. It's what's been or has not been negotiated between SACA/Bradshaw and WT/PA a decision about what is going to happen must be annouced quickly for every ones sake. The longer it takes indicates there will be no changes for next season (too little time to implement anything).
I believe vultures are still making illegal approaches to players from the two clubs.

My guess is that Port Adelaide will be playing Woodville on about the 15th of October.....

West Torrens have to wait another week to play Prospect ;)

At least it has now been officially announced, you always worried until this happened, especially how SACA have handled this debacle.

They have also agreed not to discuss the merger in public till after the 2016/17 season is over, as this had a massive affect on the performance of all three clubs involved in all grades with all the innuendo.

Now to work behind the scenes to save both Clubs for many years to come, all looking very positive on this front also!

Just hope both Port and West Torrens have awesome seasons now to shove it up SACA and certain Clubs who let us both down. Seeing we have the Bye Round 1, might have to go along and barrack for Port to smash Woodville!!

I think that there has been an agreement reached with the SACA that they will not make any comment on a possible merger while the season is in progress. Maybe, if there is no progress the SACA will act. The SACA is not bound by any parliamentary committee findings. I think the two clubs along with SACA will not be making any merger comments during the season.

Hopefully the Redbacks have another good season. Criticism of the grade competition will die down if they do alright.

I might have mentioned it before, but I wonder whether the biggest issue is the odd number of teams (bye) or that there are too many grade clubs for Adelaide's population?

If it's the former then what steps can be taken to add a 14th club to the competition? Where does it come from? Gawler, Mt Barker? Hard to squeeze another one in the metro area but the Ingle Farm/Pooraka area has always been a bit of a funny area in that it's a long way from any grade club.
