Hearing a lot of info from out north...

Penfield set to lose half their premiership side after coach pulls the pin
Hope Valley lose Watson to retirement
Para Hills actively chasing everyone they can
Modbury lose McNally interstate and a couple others to prospect with T20 recruit miller
Golden Grove lose Anderson to district i believe

Also heard a rumour Mawson Lakes have recruited ex South Australian cricketer, unlikely but a couple of lads have said this

Anderson was talking about leaving last year he was fairly open about it to us.
Penfield losing their coach ? whats happened there?

I spoke with Penfield coach half way through last season and he said he wasn't going to go again next season. Bloody hard work coaching Adelaide Turf clubs.

He also coached the state indoor side that just got back from VIC. After coaching Penfield to a flag and the SA indoor boys having a decent performance he might just be keen for a break!

Absolutely correct. Jay has to take too much time off of work to take all trainings and then all day on Saturday, He will still be around the club, just not in senior coaching capacity. Also a new coach brings more players (Hopefully)

He'll do some damage on hard wickets!

Dave Muldoon and Paul Allegretto both moving out of the district comp and over to SPOC, following Bailey and OJ from last year, putting together a fair list of ex district players now.

So can someone tell me how Woodville South get to stay down in A2? Pembroke get to stay in A1. Surely this sets a precedent for all grades now.
Sure we all know they're a young side and will get smacked in A1, but the system is designed to sort itself out and they would most likely be down in A2 the following year. At the end of the day, they made the GF and deserve to go up. Marion would be still seething they didn't make it.

Yep, total crap. Woodville Souths best 2 players are 45yrs old and didn't want to go up because apparently their young kids aren't ready for A1s. Sounds like the 2 older players might be trying to win a flag before they retire and if they succeed the club will be left in the same position anyway.

They aren't obliged to go up just because they made the GF. Going through their side I can see why they didn't. They tried to recruit to be competitive in A1, they were unsuccessful in doing that, so they decided to stay down to avoid a year of getting spanked..

I honestly don't think the two old blokes are in it to win a flag in A2. IMO I think they really overachieved and wouldn't in their wildest dreams have thought they'd be in the GF. Liam would be close to calling it a day anyway. Disappointing on ATCA's behalf. I could understand a C1/C2 not wanting to go up, but A2 come on.

Why do they get a choice????? They deserve to go up based on performance. At this level you shouldn't get to decide I would have thought.

Pretty piss poor really!
We went up to A1 last season with a pretty young team.
There was no way we would entertain not going up.
Its what every club person strives for isn't it?

You'd think so.
Sets a dangerous precedent now. Teams that finish 2nd now have just been given the option to stay and have a crack at winning a flag.
Should be declared at the start of the season that if you aren't interested in going up, then penalties apply.

If the sides due to be promoted/relegated agree to remain where they are, the league has always allowed that.

Interesting in B1 after dominating all year, SPOC finished top and only missed the GF due to losing the toss on a green top in the semi.
Should have been promoted however asked to stay down.

With the recruits they have picked up in the off season, you'd think they'll be looking to break their own record of 6/570-odd they hit this year.
