$1.1 million a year for Betts & Jenkins, very nice!

I wonder if Rockliff would take a bit less if he was able to get to Adelaide. At some point getting beaten all then the time would not be fun.

I still think Hurley will stay at Essendon.

Another long term deal for a bloke who could explore free agency in his late 20's.

Said it when Port have been bashed from pillar to post, I reckon we can expect these sorts of deals to become the new normal.

Also got to try and keep Crouch who is attracting 400k plus offers from several Vic clubs

Reckon the difference is there is plenty out there that reckon Hartlett isn't worth the deal - same as when Mackay signed for 4 years.

Jenkins seems well worth it.

Guess we will see what happens if he has a lean patch.
No problem with 5 year contracts if the club thinks they are worth it, sometimes you have to offer up overs to retain a guy

All subjective, he's played 80 games and just stitched up a $2.5m deal for the next 5 years. Plenty would question that.

Better the devil you know and we will see more and more of these for, lets call them, middle tier players and not just the top tier as it once was.

Wasn't that long ago people complained about the money paid for Betts they've changed their minds I guess .
At least Jenkins is signed not another Tippet and Dangerfield that just go through the motions in their last year at the crows
Reckon Jenkins has more class even with certain vic media guys complaining about the number of goals he kicks in the 15 metre area

4th in the coleman, 4th in the afl for score assists, third year in a row of 40+

that is plenty better than some of the "top tier" forwards going around

These contracts are always risk vs reward.
I think the risk is low considering his last 2-3 years so well worth it on that coin when other key forwards are commanding closer to $750k putting up those stats at that age.
Time will tell.
I think the key is to keep the structure the same so he can play the same role.

Thats a good point - if he kicks another 40 goals in 2017 and 2018, even as a 29 year old we would have to fork out much more than 550 for his last two years I would have thought.

Dangerfield won their best and fairest last year - hardly going through the motions.
