Watching the athletics, wouldn't you think in this day and age there would be a more advanced way of identifying
the competitors other than a piece of A4 and some safety pins

My thoughts are they both were beaten by swimmers who wanted it more than they did. Underdogs don't seem to get much credit when they cause an upset when the favourite fails.

Some events, don't mind some of the swimming and Track and field. A lot of sports shouldn't be in it but that's another debate.
It's the pinnacle of most sports and the athletes deserve better crowds. Can't see why they can't give a heap of free tix to school kids similar to other Olympics.
I love soccer but could only last about 10 minutes of the Matilda's, it's just such a poor standard.

Fair enough. Neither were the best swimmers when it counted. These athletes only get the opportunity once every 4 years. I hope it spurs both girls on for Tokyo. Whether their pre race routine is right or not is up to them to sort out. Everything needs to click on the day. I think they will reflect on that part of their preparation as well. I kind of think it's their personality to be light and bubbly pre race, rather than quiet and focused. Each to their own, there is no right and wrong.
