Player moves
Winter - Uni for more opportunity, first change behind Mennie and Agar, bitter - yes. Uni fees might have helped.
I Borgas - Melbourne work.
Tom Cooper - Pt Adel money
Ben Cooper - not coming back
James Smith - not playing, growing spuds.
Kane Richardson - WT, fallout from brothers suspension.
Where is Kerr playing this year, needs to move if Luderman still at Pt Adel, few clubs could use a quality keeper. Heater31 saw your bloke last year, very impressive.

Staying at PT A I believe, but was courted heavily by a couple of clubs.

Is there a chance that Carey ends up opening for the Redbacks and playing as a batter with Ludeman sliding back in at 7?

Agree on Reardon. Looks a ripper. Not sure what his batting is like but his hands up to the stumps are incredible.

Alex is a great kid too, no attitude, works hard and will make his Redback debut over the next 18 months IMO. Batting has certainly improved but is an area he needs to keep improving

Kerr placed in the Western Grit side for the 'Redbacks League' Carey does provide options for opening in the Shield probably why Cosgrove wasn't given a deal. Weathers, Kelvin, Raph and Carey the possibilities.

Reardo currently injured with a broken toe. Will be right for round 1. Started the year batting 10 in the Firsts yet finished the year at first drop. Played in the 19's carnival with the Australian under 17 side. Fantastic that he can develop in Club cricket as opposed to being stunted in School Cricket.

Kerr needs to be playing and keeping, is rated by the gully boys but playing second fiddle to Luderman is doing him no favours. Reardon opened against us last year and got a neat 30 odd against Habers and Co. Darling still doing the rounds Heater, looking for something no one can give him. Forgot to mention young Connolly from Kensington is off to Melbourne as well.
SACA have to move on from interstate recruits unless they are guns, Hughes etc, so no more Luderman, keep Carey and let the next two, Kerr and Reardon develop. Big decision needs to be made by Nielsen to relegate his son back to GC and let the future play, ie Reaedon, Kerr.

Doubt Tim Nielsen would do that! Harry has only got this far due to having his Dad there, could name five or six better keepers (keeper/batsmen) than him in the State.

Think Alex Reardon is the best of the lot, and will go past Damon Kerr in a year or two. I know SACA are concerned with Damon being at Port if Ludeman is around, as this will stunt his development. Few clubs could do with A Grade keeper, sounds like Kensy one of them now also.

Does anyone know why the first couple of rounds of grade cricket were swapped around?

Presumably it was done on purpose and is not a mistake?

Perhaps a couple of grounds are unavailable that first week?

We raised the issue with Delegates and programming committee, but did it very delicately. We did not want to be seen to be complaining, with everything we have gone thru the last nine months trying to survive, were just grateful to be in the comp at all!!

BUT, it is really a disgrace. Talk about the AFL having a compromised draw, this is exactly what has happened here. Every year the draw is moved two weeks forward, everyone knows that, and we had planned for the Bye in Round 1, only for it too be swapped around with Woodville.

Several points why it matters:

1. Now we play a one day game on Oct 15, then get two weeks off. Would be much better to have the Bye in Round 1, then start the season for better flow.

2. In a two day game, you potentially have the chance to win outright, therefore getting valuable extra points, not available in One day games.

3. In the one day comp when you have a Bye, you play the SACA Under 19's, normally a win occurs then.

Now Woodville get all these benefits. The worse thing of all is Geoff Turley from Woodville is in charge of Programming Committee, and gave no valid reasons why it was changed, ovals was one thing mentioned, but this can be sorted with Park 25 ovals, talk about a Conflict of Interest!

We made the decision not to challenge SACA on it, personally I would have, but we have more important issues to sort out this year to make sure we are around for many more years to come!

Season well into October when starting. Should be no issues with Co-tenants as the summer/winter user change over is October 1. Most SAAFL grounds will be done with early September, SANFL grounds by the 24th (reserves finals held on non Cricket grounds for the first 2 weeks). Gives 3 weeks minimum with nothing and 7 weeks with trainings only

Tea Tree Gully, Northern Districts, Glenelg, Kensington and Southern District end up on the road for four weeks in a row

It all evens out by the end of the season but it seems a baffling change

Is there a Shield game at Woodville Oval in October or something?

Well there is only 1 winner there and that is Woodville. Effects several other teams but Turley's Woodville are the only beneficiaries, how does that stand the scrutiny of bias. SANFL team obviously going deep into finals, but surely clubs not letting Turley get away with this blatant attempt to gain Woodville an advantage.
