Even moreso, Salisbury North get up PNU would get them again in the Elimination Final the next week.

He's got far more important business to attend to this weekend than mere amateur football.

Any chance of a major upset with Unley knocking off TTG and Uni belting Goodwood to send the Saints into Div 2?

Goodwood don't often win games in round 18 so there's a fair chance.

However, it's normally because they're resting players for finals, rather than fighting off relegation so who knows

TTG can't move from 2nd spot either so could easily rest any players carrying a niggle or two.

Don't be fooled by the jumps and drops in percentage in the AFL. The way that is calculated can see a weekly 3 or 4 % change even late in the season. The SA system has less variance after a big win or loss as the season gets deeper. Unley and Goodwood would need close to a 200 point differential this week. Eg. Goodwood to lose by 100 and Unley to win by 100.

The margin is not the deciding factor. Its the ratio between the total of the teams for and against.

A score of 120-70 (63%) will result in a different percentage than 100-50 (66%) which is different than 60-10 (85%). Even though the margins are the same - 50 points.

It's For / (For + Against) * 100.

This is why smart coaches playing for percentage will often stack the defense and restrict the opposition more than worry about kicking goals.

no it's not, but it does give you a decent indication of what is required to close the gap

This is what I do, and then I work out the points required for me to score to make up the differential.

Basically the process I've always worked off is figuring out how many points I need to close the gap, then adding points (goals) to the 'Against' and re-calculating.. worked for me this year to close the percentage gap on Brahma Lodge lol (didn't help though)

Its impossible to determine as it depends on what each sides opposition kicks as well. You have 4 variables, not 2.

ahhh legend my apologies to you

i saw the repeated "Again, No chance" and didnt go higher up the thread - regards

it is possible to put the formula into a spreadsheet and play with the scores to establish scores

youd gather that goodies percentage would have to come down to 44 and unleys just above it (meet half way)

youre obviously north of port road so you never experienced grade 9 mathematics - so just stay out of the discussion if your only contribution is to tear it down :D

its factual so the calculation can be expressed by those willing to investigate - including those at unley and goodwood who im sure would like to know
