Sort of agree, I don't think we need 'Merican type belting it out on the terraces style but at least pretending to mouth the words would be sufficient.

In the old days, no-one really sung the national anthem (except perhaps children at school). It's a thing that has to be observed but not necessarily sung.

I got no issue with the Yankee anthem.
The problem with our anthem is that it doesn't really generate any strong emotion through the tune or lyrics
