Ha I got in trouble this year for even the slightest hint of a perception of sandbagging. If anything the MPFC has an anti-Reserves culture - very rarely have the Bs kept pace with the As in their respective competition.

Was that for keeping Wilson in your team lol? :D

I love finding blokes at other clubs who I think are a threat to my success in this div and then outing them so either they get more attention or promotion to the A grade

This forum is full of crap, but it's amazing how many people behind the scenes read it and seem to take onboard the rubbish that is posted

Like I had a choice! Tried to encourage Dre to push up a couple of times but it wasn't happening. Dre did no preseason and couldn't train much at all during the week which perhaps didn't put him in the good graces of selectors - plus it was his first year with us and didn't really know anyone in the A Grade.

Hulky was another one that really wasn't keen on A Grade. But again, unbeknownst to many his body just wasn't capable of holding up at that level, he has quite a few health concerns and being 37, and having played a lot of "As" in the past, he just wanted to enjoy his footy. Davo as well, hes done enough for the As over the years and wanted to have a more casual kick and catch in the magoos.

... but from the outside, all three are probably still good enough to play As so it appeared, perception wise, that I might have been deliberately pulling strings or manipulating things for my own "success". When the As were struggling and we were going OK, I copped a lot of heat. Unfairly IMO.

That's the thing people who aren't coaching forget, and something I really learned this year. Players are human beings, not just names on a magnet board. You can't just move them in, out and around. There are so many aspects to consider.

If you wanted to take it a bit easier with footy no-one would begrudge you rolling around in the magoos.

It's when that attitude is en masse in order to win easy flags against inferior oppostion that it becomes a problem

Looks like Kurtis Phillips won the BnF count with Luke Nicholls runner up for West Croydon.

Almost coincides with their increase in football scholarships to the college and a lot of work and money getting funnelled into the old scholar sides.

Lots of football scholarships playing in the lower grades then because that's where most of the premierships are (speaking of sandbagging)
Actually there were two reasons for the resurgence
1. Players from the 80's taking over the management of the club
2. Banning all Uni scouts from hanging round the dunnies during school footy training
