Willunga vs Goolwa 2 weeks in a row (Rd 18 and Elimination Final), will be interesting to see how both teams approach this weekends game

Buzz around my way is all about the young lad from Pongy getting King Hit behind play last Saturday at Goolwa. Heard the Goolwa player didn't have to front up to the tribunal, accepted a 3 match ban !! What a joke GSFL, bloody disgrace, should of got more games than that. Might be time the league updates their Constitution, get with the times. The coward punch is an assault, but in the GSFL you just get a slap on the wrist.

I heard something similar, was it in the first minute of the game ? Someone also said it was 70m off the ball ? If this is so then 3 games should of been 13!! How are these leagues going to develop if the kids coming up cop this from thugs who can be back playing in a few weeks and do it all again.
Wonder what the Sammy D foundation thinks of this.

It was the first minute and it was a long way off the play. Pretty sure it was a ball up in the centre when it occurred on the goal line

2 young blokes (16/17 or 17/18)
Pongy bloke niggling Goolwa bloke and vice versa
Goolwa bloke threatened pongy bloke
Pongy bloke continued to niggle
Goolwa bloke punches pongy bloke and breaks his nose (from what I hear)
Can't condone such a vicious punch but it seems it was provoked (one of you blokes above might be able to confirm that)
No report from field umpires (3 on duty in this game)
Reported by Goolwa's goal umpire
Prescribed penalties in play gets suspended (not sure if 2 or 3)
After the match pongy supporter punches Goolwa player at Woolworths
Both clubs apparently had reps talking via social media
Pongy disappointed with supporter, Goolwa disappointed with player and all moving on
I was at the game and thought it was handled well. Pongy blokes kept their cool, Goolwa didn't return player to the field
Looked like there was a doctor from Goolwa there too which was handy

"bays at full strength? or resting a few before finals?" All I can say lucky Muddies aren't good enough to play in September otherwise bays would have got flogged ;)

Prelim Final tip:

A-Grade: Strath to beat Ebay @ Goolwa, for the chance to take on Mt Compass in the big dance.

B-Grade: Ebay to beat Vale for the chance to take on Willunga in the GF

What a couple of weeks in gsfl finals footy ahead! Despite the bays easily getting rolled by compass last week i would fancy them at home in a gf if they can just beat strath today however im not 100% sure they will beat strath! Im picking strath but no matter who wins today i reckon they will handle compass in the gf who will only have played 1 game in the last 4 weeks (almost) by the time it rolls around.

Bays were the form team heading into finals in 2014 but all that time off for them going straight through just allowed roosters to find form and pip them at the post and thats exactly what i reckon will happen to compass this year...dont think its an advantage to finish top and go straight through these days at all, could be wrong but we will soon see

Wow well what a game of footy that was in the A's today at Goolwa. Would have to be right up their with one of the best games of country footy I've seen. Played at an extremely high standard and would be fair to say that their wasn't one easy ball get for the entire game. After strath kicking the first 3 it was tight from then onwards for the entirety of the match and it really could have gone either way.
