They shouldn't be.....no school cricket to mess with things! Clubs should have full lists to pick from apart from the touring Redbacks squad. 50 over match in seniors should also mean no restrictions for 2nd XI players also.

Yuck...

Not a great look for grade cricket if that's the case. Especially those of us (I am one) trying to push the barrow that there aren't too many teams and we should try to keep all the clubs.

Too much cricket for kids.

It a failure by some parents/kids to recognise the Elite pathway structure. Years ago it would only be the fringe kids double dipping with Sunday cricket. Nowadays it's almost every kid and then there are some that decide to put Community Club before Premier Club to bask in short term glory....

It is a two day game and School cricket starts next week. One College player in a team of 12 this week then drop back to 11 next week.

Why on earth is the junior cricket and senior cricket program out of sync for grade cricket?

Seniors play a one dayer then a two dayer in Rounds 1 and 2.

Juniors play a two dayer then a one dayer

There is no possible reason for this.

It sucks at a grade level, not to mention not having access to the 1st XI kids as mentioned above.

You make so much sense TC, is astonishing really!

Unfortunately, SACA and the programming committee led by Geoff Turley are not that clever!

Wonder how they will justify this one?

At least the Parliamentary Enquiry is already showing up what a Boys Club they are!

Bahahahahaha.
Your all delusional because your involved at District clubs.
Clubs survive on cash and that's all District clubs do, provide as many teams as they can for cash flow, pay their top liners, none of you can agree for the betterment of SA cricket, that's life.
How much of your junior cricket subs etc stays in your juniors coffers for development etc.
I'd say stuff all.
Give some examples of high quality junior coaches at your clubs, I said high not average.
Seen it all.
Now the penny is turning because the product is garbage and parents / kids can't be stuffed putting up with the politics involved with cricket in SA at the apparent higher level.
District clubs have had too many sides for years and everyone knows it.
Good luck because you all lay in the same bed and considering that we will have to listen to the same jibberish year after year.
So suck it up and expect your forfeits throughout the season and stop sooking.
Your comp is the birth mother of all the troubles right now.

Nice troll

Can't speak for every club but think you will find clubs 'paying' players are in the minority. Overseas players would have a few expenses covered and that is about it.

Last time I did a comparison of fees it was actually cheaper to play Premier Cricket at a club rather than a community Club just 5 minutes down the road.

Not sure that's right for all clubs,

When my boys played District Juniors it cost $320 for Rego fees plus about $150 for clothing.

Their community club cost $160 + $5 a game ball fees (about $60 for the season) and they got a free playing shirt and hat.

When you add the travel required, it cost a lot more to play District.

Wouldn't expect an answer any different than that from yourself Heater.

Sorry but if a kid is playing 16 whites he's hardly going to be the next superstar, unless he's 13.

The cost, the duration of the games, the travel factor and how it will soak up every Saturday afternoon during summer far outweighs the preference to play community cricket instead.

Why? He wouldn't have been a permanent fixture in the whites, admittedly he wasn't too crash hot as a 16/17 year old, he was playing C's and D's when he started playing seniors, could swing the ball a mile but struggled in other aspects, gee did things change over the next 24 months, a great cricket story.

From his book he mostly played Whites in his final year of 16's. Granted he his the most successful Whites graduate as 3 years later he was playing First Class Cricket.

I'm sure there are other stories at other clubs with players going from Whites to play First or Second Grade.

Peter George is the most famous Eagle to come from the Under 16 Whites. Tall fast bowlers develop later than most cricketers. Having said that, reckon 16 Whites is on its last legs, and D Grade won't be far behind it.
