As opposed to increasing your chances of a Premiership over the next couple of years? Adelaide's time is now - not in a few years.

Heard that one before... 1 bloke will not win a flag it's deeper than that. The development of blokes 19-22 years of age is the key there...

Agreed, but all the hysteria about giving up next years 1st rounder was premature in my view, 4 in the top 31 gives us a really good look at some talent we would be interested in.

Not sure I like that deal

I reckon picks 9,19 are way more valuable than 14, 17 and the 49-31 are much of a muchness at that point imho

We had 9,19 and 30, now we have 14,17,30 and 31. That's an upgrade IMO.

CARLTON'S ASKING PRICE FOR GIBBS

Adelaide's list manager Justin Reid said the Blues wanted two first round picks for Gibbs.

The Crows felt that to be "irresponsible" list management.

A few in footy would agree with him.

I'll reserve my judgement ;)

In seriousness, given what transpired on Tuesday, I am happy to have further improved our position in this years draft, yes.

I still hope that in 12 months time, we do manage to secure a first round selection.

Getting Gibbs does not hinder that. Why spend a few years developing your treasured youngsters at the expense of the blokes in their prime now? Betts isn't going to be better in a few years. The same can be said for a lot of others too.

The "1 bloke won't win you a flag" line is a cop out of the highest order.
