A few in footy would agree with him.

You think he is worth 2 first round picks? No way in hell, he is 27 and wanted to come home, we didn't chase him. If he wanted to come home he should have done it before signing his last contract, I'm sure we were chasing him then.

Very few AFL players are worth two first round picks.

Plenty of other options for outside run IMO. Milera ( been in the system 12 months), Laird and Cameron can fill the wing requirements

Why wern't Port involved if the Crows weren't chasing him?

We've got enough long term deals on big money, we couldn't enter into another one.

Plus, I think our midfield isn't the issue for us, we need talls.

No, He puts his big boy pants back on and plays out his contract at Carlton and Crows use their pick 13.

BTW, looking forward to every game report from The Advertiser that Adelaide lose in 2017 with a paragraph on how Gibbs and/or Lyons would have helped them get the win...

Obviously didn;t want to come to Adelaide that bad then, well done Carlton for calling his bluff.

Some of your posts perplex me. In the end it was between the clubs, he didn't really get a choice.

Lyons finished 18th the B&F, where did the axed Brent Harvey and Nick Dal Santo come in Norths?

Well, he had a choice and that choice was to ask to go home or not ask. He asked and in the end Carlton wanted overs and Adelaide weren't prepared to pay the price.

For mine, missed opportunity for Adelaide, but I understand why they didn't dig deeper into their pockets.

I'm loving this sense of entitlement I'm feeling from a few Crows' posts on here. I've also heard a couple of comments on the radio claiming the Blues should help the Crows win a flag, because the Blues obviously won't!
Reality check boys! Not everyone thinks you're as important as you obviously do. Now back to the sandpit and play by yourselves.

Adelaide would have to be the big losers from trade week, month, year whatever

Needed midfield depth, were linked to Gibbs, Martin, Hartlett etc

End result was losing a starting mid and picking up a flat coke and packet of twisties

Justin Reid said from the start that the clubs objective was to go to the draft and if anything else happened it would be a bonus.

To answer whufc, current situation for the players mentioned
Martin.....went nowhere
Hartlett...,went nowhere, Crows wouldn't want him
Gibbs..... went nowhere due to excessive demands

The end.

So what offer did they make to counter these "excessive demands"?

I agree the Crows shouldn't have given two first rounders for Gibbs

But they needed midfield depth, they identified this and in the end lost a starting midfielder for unders as there only trade

That's a massive loss imho

They would have been better off not participating

I don't know but by asking you must?

Do you think Gibbs is worth 2 first round picks?

His actual worth is different to each teams needs.
If he fills a void at your team then you surely pay overs to get him.
We'll keep him at Carlton but I would have swapped him for a first rounder and a starting 18 player.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

You did, but you didn't match it with the best midfields in the game when it mattered most. Geelong, Sydney and West Coast* all exposed you when it was the business end of the season and you've depleted the midfield, didn't even tread water.

*West Coast have a solid, if unassuming midfield and baked you at home.
