Watched "Straight Outta Compton" last night and really enjoyed it. I don't know much about Rap music but have always liked Ice Cube and thought the bloke that played him did a great job. In an era with no internet I didn't realise how bad things were in LA back then with racial tension (was aware, but not to the extent of it).

About a month ago I watched some movie about Biggy and Tupac and that was excellent aswell.

Highly recommend them both.

I watched American Ultra last night on Stan. Best movie I've seen this year. Reminds me of one of my favourites, The Baytown Outlaws.

Fast paced, comic-book-y type action movie about a CIA experiment gone wrong. Lots of fast doof doof music, hand to hand combat with the customary close quarters head shot or neck stab.

It stars Jessie Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. I've never seen anything with her in it before, but she does a good in this one.

Agreed. SOC is a good flick, although I think it puts a bit of a gloss on Dr Dre's misogyny, and makes him out to be a hero which I'm not sure he is. The bloke who played Ice Cube was his son!

Watched The Monuments Men on an Air NZ flight a few weeks back and enjoyed it. Always been a fan of Matt Damon.

Also watched The Grand Budapest Hotel (for the 2nd time) but just as good again.

Saw Concussion last night, and agree with you.

Thought it was portrayed in a pretty obvious, routine way. Sounds like most of the main stuff around the story was accurate, with some minor details being changed for the movie.

Saw Kingsman today, one of the most awesome films I've seen for a while. The Yanks really should study the Poms movies like this when it comes to combining drama with comedy.

Saw Rogue 1 today, loved it. The way they made it to tie in with the original movie was sensational and anyone who might fear Disney would soften the franchise need not worry! Probably even better for my son and I as we knew the new characters from playing Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes.

Was pretty good but thought the first 30-45 minutes were a bit slow. Brilliant special affects and the Vader scenes were great. Probably 8.5/10

I've seen Rogue One now but I thought it was a bit average. Certainly needed more Darth Vader he was excellent in it loved that scene with him and Ben Mendelsohn and that sequence near the end with Vader was pretty good too.

Mendelsohn was very good in it though and I must admit seeing him in movies like Metal Skin & Idiot Box back in the mid-90's never would've thought he could play a leading role in a Star Wars movie.
