I'm led to believe politics were pretty bad this year at Gc. This may of contributed to some of these departures
Also chuck J Blakemore in the mix of the departures as he may be moving to melbourne

Sounded like an interesting season off the field, that's for sure.

Former Port Magpie Aseri Raikiwasa has left the Eagles and signed with Nuriootpa in the Barossa League...

HIs brother Aisea, who played some League footy with Glenelg and has also signed with the Nuri Tigers in the BLG...

Like I said after round 1 thats what happens when you ask blokes to take a 19% paycut to fit under the salary cap ! I wonder where they'll get the cash from now Jims Fencing isn't putting money into the club ?

So Josh Trembath signing on at Tanunda for more $$ than Angaston offered sounds like they might be outside the cap provisions unless Kurtze has left or is playing for $500

Good luck to Freeling and South Adelaide young man Dylan Whimpress in tomorrow's draft. How good would it be to hear another Barossa lad called up to the AFL.

The BLGFA are allegedly set to introduce a three week finals series for 2017 along with the season starting on April 22nd.
I believe this is a better system than the four week option when the winner of the first semi previously had a week off.
Nuriootpa and Angaston will play their round one match on Tuesday, April 25th for ANZAC Day then follow up just four days later in Round two on April 29th.

Sat, Sept 9- 2nd Semi Final at Tanunda
Sun, Sept 10 - 1st Semi Final at Barossa District
Sat, Sept 16 - Preliminary Final at South Gawler
Sat, Sept 23 Grand Final at Nuriootpa

Looking at the clearances and I see that Tanunda have denied Aaron Whistler a clearance to Kapunda. WHY would they need another ruckman - ie. Kurtze and Wells - when the guy can play A grade at at the Bombers? He certainly won't at Tanunda. I know interclub clearances rarely happen, often to the detriment of the player, but with a chance to learn his trade AND play at the highest level, what's the beef? Some past tiff?

I think with a 9 team comp, it should be a final 5, same as the SANFL

Netball wont agree to it and if theres no netball the Sunday finals are not much more than a regular season home game for atmosphere. Id be surprised Netball has agreed to the 3 week finals series.

Good to see common sense prevailed and we didnt start on the 8th April for one week before Easter break

Footy move to top 5 (4 week finals series)
Netball keep their top 4 (play their finals on Sats during the footy finals, have Sunday off)

If RMFL can have a top 5 in a 7 team comp and can run Sat/Sun finals, surely the BLG can

BLGFA sticking to final 4 with 1st and 2nd semi on the same weekend. The management committee need to have a good hard look at itself there were 7 versions presented to the clubs in the last month. It cant be that hard.??????

Theoretically $500 is more than TTG could have theoretically paid them so neither could be marquee and still be better off than at TTG ;)
