Great for the player, but how shite for South!
He will be playing AGAINST them in the SANFL FFS!
So wrong.
Port would be looking at Eddy playing AFL football. They aren't recruiting him, just to get him away from South
Thats pure lunacy from you to think like this. Selfish to think that any SANFL club would hold a player back from realising their dream.
You have to think whats best for the player. Of course Eddy and many other players want to give it their best shot at playing AFL
Of course they must be given the chance. If its South or any other SANFL club that misses out, then bad luck really as its about the player
SANFL clubs and members have to accept that they are play a supporting role now and they are there to prepare players for AFL football
Dear oh dear. It's not about whether Eddy plays at the highest level, and LPH has recognised that in the very post you chose to quote. The clubs DO acknowledge and willingly accept their roles as feeders in the wider football environment, and the overwhelming majority of SANFL fans would not begrudge their players the opportunity to play and earn a professional living at the highest level, which has been part of the SA footy landscape for the past 30-odd years. It's about the presence of the reserves sides in the SANFL comp in which Eddy, if he goes, is likely to spend a fair bit of time. For those supporters that have strong feelings against their participation in the comp, such a move leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. I think that's the sentiment that LPH was expressing.
I'm sick of reading about the two AFL clubs being so bad etc, etc, etc. Time that SANFL supporters accepted that the SANFL is purely a feeder competition to the Crows, Port and the other 16 AFL clubs around Australia. Stop whining and accept the reality of the situation. FACT - the SANFL competition is no greater than the amateurs or the nearly country leagues in the eyes of spectators. You get more people to watch a GSFL, HFL or BLG game or a Div 1 SAAFL game than many SANFL games.
Why pay $14 to get through the gate, then pay $8 a beer and then top price for food etc, etc. Cheaper to go to a country game or SAAFL game. Nothing to get in and $5 beers and a $3 BBQ. All that and the standard is not that much greater. The SANFL is a dying competition. End of story
So you're "sick of reading about the two AFL clubs being so bad etc, etc, etc" are you.
