Sayers takes new ball with Starc.

We lose Pakistan Series, Lehmann out, Langer in, prepare for Ashes.

India tour- Leave Hazelwood at Home, Take Agar, Head, Maxwell,

Forgot to get my little radio out my bag at smoko so I could listen to the cricket, so didn't know what was happening and just saw the score and watched the replays of the wickets. I'm in shock at how quickly it's over! Most of the dismissals were down right disgusting! Fantastic bowling from South Africa in this match, completely dominated us. How f**king good is Rabada. Scary to think he's only 21. Philander is a consistency freak and Abbott bowled real good areas and was well rewarded. Shane Warne mentioned yesterday that dodgy techniques will get found out on this pitch and they sure did.

They really need to send Voges back to shield cricket while I hope/think they give Ferg another match to prove himself. I would like to see Handscomb replace Voges. Was made the Australia A captain in the recent winter series so the selectors must rate him. Patterson is also a good chance I reckon and to a lesser extent George Bailey but they need to give the the younger guys a crack now.

This article (put up on Sunday) summarizes the possible batsman that could potentially come into the test side. Most of the names have alresdy been mentioned in previous posts.

A rare positive in this match was Hazlewood. Bowled really well again. He is our Mr Reliable.

Besides Warner, Smith and Starc how many of our current Test squad and those budding for Test match selection are truly world class cricketers? We can barely justify bringing someone up from Shield level. We all have an opinion in here but we can't agree on who is next in, all we can agree on is that it needs to be someone new, young, with a future.

We might be over complicating things with the way we go about the summer, then again we might just have such a dearth of talent at this point that it wouldn't matter how we went about programming the summer.

Maybe the talent isn't there because the pathway is getting more demanding?

Also we are doing nothing to develop "test cricketers" at a younger age - everything is built around the limited overs formats - from Milo T20 blast, right through to national championships... it's no more batting time, or bowling lengthy spells, it's get in as a bowler and limit damage, and get in as a batsman and inflict as much damage as quickly as possible.

No denying that, but even when looking at the shorter forms, who bar Warner, Smith and Starc could be considered World Class in those sides?

We are absolutely shite. We have no guts and no spirit. The way we displayed ourselves in the last 2 tests are absolutely filth. The selectors, coach and captain need to look hard at themselves.

Good call on the spirit. Would think Steve Waugh, Allan Border etc would be lamenting at the seeming lack of spirit, love for the baggy green these guys now show.

Although, if we're relying on spirit alone then we might as well call our old blokes Shinboners. ;)

I go for the mighty Bombers and I'm the same. I used to be so pumped for the cricket but lately I've lost the passion to watch it.

Stop preparing SS wickets as just roads with no variety like we used to have.
Stop cramming the fixture early to clear up January for the big bash.
Give players a pay cut. - from the radio - regarding players like Marsh who are being paid on potential not returns. So they are living comfortably financially but are not really made to work and earn their spot and therefore as players don't improve.

Perhaps playing golf at The Vines before a summer of cricket, helped the tourists
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

teeball will kill Test Cricket.
No it won't REB

Ummm.....

teeball not entirely to blame but tell me why our Test players play it? Roads are prepared for the Big Bash. The Shield has been a casualty. No Shield, no decent test players. No Academy, no decent test players. Money grabbing bullshit from the administration has killed the golden goose.

Maybe. So from our Test, ODI and T20 squads we have 3, maybe 4 World Class players. There we go.

I don't get all the love for Head*

In terms of 1st class runs and 1st class batting average you're picking Patterson, Hanscombe, Bancroft, Maddinson, and Maxwell before him. Having played less cricket based on average you're picking Stonis and Lehman (15 run better average and the same amount tons having played a third of the amount of games) before him too.

I know stats don't tell the full story and he is still a bloody good young cricketer but not sure Head would make my 2nd test side.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

We're doing what the Australian Selectors have failed to do for years. Identify young talent, perhaps before their time, throw them in and back them in. What have we got to lose now?
