Like most on here agree it looks like a very good appointment by Smithfield

They really have got their act together both on and off the field in recent times.

Having had Thomo as a coach almost 18 years ago I'm so glad to see him have the success he has had.

Smithfield Sports and Social Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Considine as our senior A grade coach for season 2017. Josh has completed 3yrs as our reserve's coach, including achieving regular finals action. We look forward to supporting Josh and our playing group as we take on the challenge of division 4.

As a life member and someone that donned a blue and white guernsey on more than 300 times I'm rapt with the appointment, whilst Thommo has done some great things with the club during his tenure and will be taking some players with him (ones that his appointment brought them to Smithfield anyway) Josh has done the hard yards by taking the B's and had his side pilfered by the A's many times.

Josh is as hard as nails and was one of the fairest players I've seen take the field, I recall a day up at Golden Grove when Scuddsy had been on a hot streak and Josh had the unenviable task of standing, despite giving away about a foot and 40 kilo's, Josh gave him a bath that day.

By appointing Josh, I think it will stem the flow of players possibly leaving, he has a tremendous amount of respect around the place.

Kyran is a former junior and senior player, top bloke.

He will be out at Port but is changing his home club back to North Haven.

Not sure we will see a lot of him in a playing capacitybut he is great personality to have around the club and an excellent role model.

Heard up to 12 a grade players could be on the move from Smithfield. Haven't put in for clearancees yet but eastern park, gums, and paskies all happy to welcome them to there side. Can anyone confirm?
