There's still 10 overs from each end and it's merely a common sense move to trim the game time down and beat the fading light.

If grounds had high LUX lights and state of the art sightscreens then you wouldn't need it but these are suburban ovals.

Completely changes how the game is played. What if a gale is blowing from one end? What if there is a left and right hander batting together and they need to take turns each over hitting over a short legside boundary? Can't do that effectively with 5 at each end. It has too much bearing on the game compared to over by over end changes.

Whats it matter its T20 cricket

Same for both teams. Would make extremely minor tactical changes to the game. Well worth the price of finishing in better light that is fair for both teams.

Considering an entire game can swing on one good over it's a pretty major factor. If people take T20 seriously, like 80% of first grade players do, you need to use the same rule set as the big time. If they go to 5 overs at each end they may as well throw out the Turf ball idea and let people play in shorts and warm up shirts. Grade T20's have a pretty good standard at the moment, don't mess with it by changing the format.

If it's good enough for state cricket surely its good enough for grade cricket

Playing in light is pretty fundamental to the game

In fact almost the single most important factor, to the point that all cricket stops when it's below a certain level. Light meters at grade T20s would be interesting.

Batters can't see the ball but at least we're swapping ends each over which is what it's all about...

Easy fix is to play all matches on a Sunday afternoon.....reckon clubs would get more revenue that way as well.

Agree. The game we played at Port had a large crowd. I know people hate lots of Sunday cricket, but playing 3pm to 6pm is good time slot I reckon.

Should lower grades and juniors be playing Twenty20 matches? Seems odd that your first ever game of it is at A Grade level.

Think it's time to think about a 2nd Grade comp.....double headers on a Sunday. If you can't find 11 blokes keen for a game from 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade then there is something wrong!

Double headers would be awesome. Very rare for cricketers to see their club mates play whereas at a footy club it happens every single week.

This is something that happens in Vic Prem. On the weekend the 1st and 2nds played double headers along with the 3rds and 4ths. Not to sure how often they do it but I think it was apart of the normal competition.

H31, you can't come up with a sensible idea like that :D , without wondering how it will affect the community clubs junior grades on Sunday arvos  , those Under 17 premierships mean a lot especially when lads are playing seniors for their PC club then rolling out on Sunday arvo's, with wicket keepers opening the bowling, batting the opposite hand etc etc, and stronger teams generally taking the pi$$ out of the weaker sides.

This is not a crack at community clubs as they have their place, just the current cricket landscape in SA.

Besides the Uni (11th) vs Prospect (13th) game, it's looking like the lower placed teams on the ladder head in to day 2 in a strong position, which potentially gives the teams currently placed 8th-12th all a win. Obviously still some cricket to be played, but will be interesting to see how the day pans out. Hopefully the weather doesn't impact too much.

Three draws this round. Starting to mount up for some clubs. Good win for Southerns though. Back on track?

What a bumper start to the season for Jake Winter! Was playing B Grade quite a bit last season, now selected in the CA XI to play against Pakistan.

Quite a rise in 12 months. Apparently when he played for SA's U/19 team he was the last player chosen. Squeezed into the team and then peeled off the most runs in the competition.

Can seriously play. Hopefully will see him in the Shield team soon!

Are you talking about when he was in the 17's? Around 2013 i think?

From memory he had a couple of lean years in the 19's

Correct Zartan. He was leading run scorer in the Under 17's Carnival three years ago. Last two years in Under 19's he has struggled. His improvement this year is massive. Has gone past golden boy Patrick Page rapidly this year, as he has not made a run all year.

Country round upon us! Games in Waikerie, Moonta, Port Augusta, Mt Gambier.... and Christies Beach and Prospect. Tough to tip. Not sure what to expect. Good fun for teams to get together on the road.
