Handy win. Will be sitting clear second going into the two month break. Hopefully some batters, like Ferg, get some form back during the Big Bash.

Think the rules of the game have been changed...

What if it went for 6?

Cletus may have batted like a pisshead looking for a pie cart but credit where credit's due, he scrapped it out. What a deadset farce no Shield cricket for that long now.

Not 100% what the rule is but i THINK? it has something to do with the fact that they had already completed the winning run before the ball had reached the boundary and as they only needed 1 run to win thats all that counted. Im pretty sure if they had not run at all and the ball went for 4, the whole 4 runs count. Same would apply for a 6 i presume.
I dont think its quite right either but.............................

Agree, all not out. Add Cooper's to that list, was spinning way down leg. Terrible umpiring!

Just saw Coopers LBW

Holy *%^&&^^%% *&^^^&* )((^%%^&* SHIT

That was spinning so far it would have been lucky to hit a 2nd set of stumps.
OK, Slight exaggeration but seriously that wasn't even close to out. Dont like bagging umpires but you gotta wonder what theyre watching some times?

Why did Sandu not bowl at all the 2nd innings?

Because he bowls pies and is no good. Can't believe they played him over Bollinger, cost them the match.

To think Sandhu was used in all those adds as an "Aussie player", what a joke that was!

Ferg turned his form around, got 12 in the 2nd dig.

He might be struggling to hold his Shield spot soon. Needs a score badly.

Since his 101 against WA he's gone ( at shield level ) 0,4,4,5,24,7,12.

Not sure i really agree with that - i think it's getting a lot closer. Sure yesterday we saw a bucket load of wickets for not many runs so supports your case and not mine lol.. but with the exception of Sayers i didn't think anyone else really had the ball shaping significantly, and the spinners did a bit of damage.

Also looking over the Redbacks wickets - you cant say too many were from quality bowling, a lot of wickets thrown away combined with some terrific NSW fielding. Redbacks were their own worst enemy last night with the chase.

None the less, i'm enjoying the battle - it's far more exciting to watch knowing that the bowlers are always in the game and it's not a snoozefest as sides rack up monster totals and we rely on sporting declarations to get results. Last night was great viewing for that chase.

seeing them struggle at periods and get through that and post a big score is great to watch.

The change from twilight to night and the associated change in batting conditions has added a new dynamic. Usually if a team is 2/200 after 2 sessions you pretty much know how the third is going to go, but not anymore

Agree. In some ways I think it has saved the Adelaide Test match. Previous to drop-ins, it would be a batting paradise for 3 days and then would crumble making it extremely difficult to bat in the 2nd innings (especially the 5th day) - often providing a result, even if both teams posted 400 plus in the 1st dig.

The batting paradise was still there after the drop ins but it didn't crumble as much.

The need to add grass to protect the pink ball saw a different wicket last year. Adjusted slightly this year to give the perfect pitch and conditions for Test cricket and an even balance between bat and ball (pace and spin). I think how Hough had it prepared this year will and should be the template for all Test's at Adelaide moving forward. Just as Burdett had it right for his time - Hough has got it right for this time and just as there was significant variation from Day 1 to Day 5 due to the pitch in Burdett's era there is significant variation due to conditions throughout the match.

Pace bowlers would prefer coming to Adelaide now. There is something for the spinners all match, although not as relied upon on the 5th day as they once were. Centuries at Adelaide Oval will be much harder to come across, but as proven by Du Plessis and Khawaja, are possible and even more commendable than they once were due to their difficulty.

I'd be happy for Adelaide to have Day/Night Test matches from now on if it resembles something close to what we saw this year.

If both teams score 400 in the 1st dig and we get a result that's about the best of Test cricket for mine.

There is obviously no right or wrong but for me if that happens I would normally be pretty bored watching the first 3.5 days, I'm also not a huge fan of declarations being needed to force a result
