Yeah I think that's right. Will rely on part-timers. Just don't seem to have faith in Andrews or Cormack in 4 day matches yet. Hopefully those guys develop as it becomes a battle of attrition to get your quicks through a whole season if you're relying on them every game.

in hindsight he had to play the shield final but he didn't. Not sure the level of faith has increased nor is Mick Cormack ready for Shield Cricket.

Looks like you're right - Andrews in the 12

No Worrall I'm hearing. Guess he's not quite ready for a four day game yet.

30 January 2017
Sheffield Shield returns
SACA Media
142
Alex Ross and Cameron Valente have been included in the 12-man squad to face Western Australia while Travis Head and Adam Zampa fulfil their ODI duties.

The West End Redbacks currently sit on second place on the table, with the remainder of the Shield season to feature Dukes ‘Special County’ balls in action, including the final.

Ross had an impressive BBL|06 campaign with semi-finalists Brisbane Heat, and takes the place of Kelvin Smith in the side.

"We're happy to have Alex back after he missed the start of the year with a broken hand and the fact that nobody has allowed him to get back into the team through their performances," said General Manager, High Performance Tim Nielsen.

"It's unfortunate that Smith misses out but we just felt that without Travis here, his scoring and ability to play shots in the middle order is very important."

South Australian rookie Cameron Valente makes the side for the first time this season, following an impressive Matador Cup campaign in which he was the leading wicket-taker. He also spent BBL|06 with the Perth Scorchers as an injury replacement player.

Valente struck an impressive 4/36 for Cricket Australia's XI against Pakistan in a tour match preceding the Test series.

Kane Richardson maintains his place in the Shield squad after recovering from a lower back injury which ruled him out for the second half of the Big Bash.

Last time we met

With the most wickets in the competition to date, Chadd Sayers was able to swing it both ways in Perth, crucially claiming the quick wickets of Voges, Mitchell Marsh and Klinger to steer his side home to a dominant 10-wicket victory. Will he be able to continue his devastating form?

3-4 weeks for Worrall :(

Almost wipes his season

Hopefully Joe Mennie recovers quickly though it sounds like a very nasty injury

WA won the toss & will bowl first. Heard that this deck will have more grass coverage on it than usual, could be a tricky day with the bat!

Noticed the covers are still on - is there rain about down Glenelg?

Both plenty of experience in County cricket - you'd think the Duke wont hold too many fears for them.

The green, moist pitch might hold some fear though.
