With heavy rain being forecast for Sunday, does anyone know if SACA has a 'reserve day' for the One Day Semi-Finals, or is it a case of the top two going through to the Grand Final?

Sturt big win over East Torrens. Puts East Torrens a win outside the four. Sturt draw within a game but have the bye next round.

West Torrens hung on for a draw against NDCC with a little help from the rain

Glenelg smashed Southern Districts. Bays only 5 points out of the four and Port (4th) have the bye to come. Were on track for a possible outright when the rain came.

Draw between Woodville and Adelaide. No good for either team.

Kensington beat Prospect but no outright points.

TTG big winners from the weekend! Had the bye but stay 3rd.

Semi finals today. Might struggle to get on? Rain this morning. Not sure if there's more to come later in the day.

What a debacle at Henley & Grange Mem.
Just before tea it started to rain again (pitch previously covered due to rain), tea taken at normal 3.30pm, still raining, umpires wouldn't allow ground staff to put covers on. Twenty minutes into tea, umpires allow covers to be put on. Twenty minutes of pitch getting rained on. In the end it did not matter as no more play was possible. If further play was possible WT would have been disadvantaged playing on a damp pitch. All clubs are required to have covers to protect pitches, why not use them? Les Burdett was at the match and couldn't believe what was going on. Some common sense was surely needed.

A sign of how even the competition is with the bottom 2 teams being in strong positions against the top 2 teams at certain times in the game? In the end, the rain probably saved the Eagles from defeat and prevented Kensington from an outright, so the weather gods doing WT a favour, along with another lower order partnership.

With Port and Sturt still with the bye, Glenelg look primed to replace Port in the 4 by the end of the minor round to join WT, Kensington and TTG. With an outright to Uni over Port yesterday, there is still probably 10 teams with a sniff of a finals spot with 3 rounds to play.

Reckon Somerfield from TTG would be favourite at the moment, then Davis from Sturt and Dalton from Kensington.

Year before Valente 34, Opie 32, Benton 31.

If some of the guys near the top get three wickets a match they can get to 32, so not far off last couple of seasons.

Even runs scored have way to go, last year Barrett and Carey both scored over 800, and the year before Raphael 758.

(Josh Barrett from Southerns on 400 runs this year and he has only two games left, half as many as last year - why Southerns struggling maybe!).

Yes, Ben is the son of the former football field umpire, Richard. Richard is a great guy and has been a tireless volunteer at West Torrens for a number of seasons.

Watched Ben from the opposition "coaches box" in primary school days and he stood out then with his action being that of a bowler who had good things ahead of him.

I watch with interest Harry Neilsen, Ollie McDowell and Bens progress through the ranks. Neilsen might just be doing enough with the bat this season to take the next step.

"MERGER ULTIMATUM QUASHED

It is with great pleasure and relief on behalf of the Board of Management of the West Torrens District Cricket Club that we formally announce that the SACA tonight confirmed that the merger ultimatum has been withdrawn and West Torrens DCC and Port Adelaide DCC will remain as stand-alone clubs! The SACA President/CEO also announced they will be pursuing the inclusion of a 14th team to eliminate the bye.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and contributed to the club during this very challenging process and congratulations particularly to our President Denis Brien and his subcommittee who saw this through to the end.

Now we can move on to concentrate on bigger and better matters – like winning premierships! Was told recently that there would be a district side in the Barossa within 4 years

Great result and must be an unbelievable weight off the shoulders of those heavily involved with both clubs.

Now hopefully this can move forward in a positive fashion. A new club, new ground, new facilities from the fastest growing area of Adelaide will be fantastic.

There's been a cloud hanging over grade cricket which will now lift. Good times!
