I don't think it's a bad deciscion not to take Cartwright to India but can't understand why he was picked as an 'all rounder' for the Sydney test his bowling is horrible.

The rest I agree with

To be honest and I'll probably get critiscm but I don't think Lehmann has done a very good as coach and some the standards Aussie cricket has set have really gone backwards.

You'll get absolutely no arguement from me, Lehmann ain't cut it.

It's a bit of a case of horses for courses.

Agree he has to play especially considering the questions marks over some others to play spin there.

Yep, I think since Renshaw is unscarred he plays, Khawaja is the one for me who drops out to bring Marsh in, he shouldnt even be in the squad

We keep hearing about 'horses for courses' in regards to picking Australian teams - well if that's the case, why are we taking so many f*%&*n spinners over there? It's only a spinners paradise for their spinners and I'm happy to be corrected on this but to my knowledge the only spinners since Ashley Mallett that have done any good over there are Jason Krezja, Greg Matthews and Michael Clarke and even that was only for brief periods. Was interested to hear Waqar Younis say that we should be relying on pace bowling over there.
Stephen O'Keefe reminds me of the quote that Steve Waugh said about former English offie Eddie Hemmings, "Getting out to him wasn't a crime but playing for spin was"

Former Test skipper says Shaun Marsh's experience and record in Asia should trump Matthew Renshaw in India.

Steve Waugh says Australia should reinstall Shaun Marsh to open alongside David Warner for this month's Qantas tour of India.

"For me, while Matt Renshaw has done exceptionally well in Australia I'd be very tempted to play Shaun Marsh in the first Test," Waugh said during a fan chat on his official Facebook page.

"He has a proven track record and he was the incumbent opener before he was injured.

"I think he's ready to go at this level, he knows the conditions well, he's played in the Indian Premier League.

"It gives Australia a bit more experience. I would open the batting with him and Dave Warner."

Incumbent opener? Does playing two tests in a row at the top of order make Marsh an incumbent opener?

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... ew=innings

I'm all for Marsh being the back up batsman in the squad and will come if any of the top 5 struggle to make runs in the first couple of tests but by no stretch of the imagination is he the incumbent opener. Waugh said previously he doesn't watch alot of test cricket and this shows it.

Let Renshaw be FFS.

Marsh has to play. Full stop.. But at the expense of Khawaja, its a no brainer, but we wont, we'll wait until we are 2-0 down and Khawaja has 32 runs @ 8.
Im a hater of Marsh just as much as the next bloke but he deserves his spot on the sub continent

Yeah Smith was meant to be at 4 lol

I dont think we can afford to go with a 5th bowler who isn't a solid bat (ala, M.Marsh, H.Cartwright etc etc)

The 2 spinners will be a very high proportion of our overs and our batting is to weak (especially our keeping position) that we cant afford to have 6th batsmen who is not a genuine bat.

I'm on a different planet if Wade is our first choice as keeper.
It will cost us big time.

The side India has gone with against Bangladesh is close to what we can expect from them come the first test.

A very solid top order with Vijay back to opening.

No way in hell they will be playing 3 quicks against us, don't expect any wickets to look like the current test pitch

Yeah talk was that being a one off test they played 5 specialist bowlers to give themselves every chance to bowl Bangladesh out twice

But against us they are expecting one of the three pacemen will drop out for the young lad who hit 300 against England or Rohit Sharma
