Those Redbacks who got the chance did ok yesterday. Dalton and Smith doing no harm for their chances to replace one of the Redbacks openers. Why don't the SACA program with the Redbacks in mind? For instance, a Saturday/Sunday game this round (instead of one earlier in the season) so Raphael, Lehmann, Carey etc can have a hit. It isn't rocket science and would beat having the interchanging of players (or trying to kick out a club to prevent a bye).

Weatherald 139
Raphael dnb
Ferguson 63 (run out)
Head Aus T20
Lehmann dnb
Cooper 30 (run out)
Carey dnb

Smith 92
Dalton 149

The better question would be why dont they play those insignificant Shield matches from Monday to Thursday so the Grade clubs can have their players every week ;)

SACA Bandit (aka some hack from Woodville who plays Third Grade, Tom Edwards), been shut down or gone missing?

Maybe his next tweet could be about his Club - "Woodville 9/367 overnight but bat on, costing them 7 valuable overs to bowl Uni out, have them nine down at Stumps, therefore ending their season. Sack coach McNally maybe?"

SACA did not program a Sat/Sun game this round as they had the One day final programmed. But Glenelg stuffed that up by getting their Semi moved to today. The grand final with Ferguson, Richo, Carey, Sayers, Smith, etc would have been awesome. Now none can play next Sunday.

Agree with the concept though of working around Shield draw so slash players don't need to be used.

Glenelg into one day final. Chased down TTG's 261 in just 37 overs

It doesn't really make sense for a premier club to run Milo cricket because the kids won't move up to the next level at a premier club because they don't have teams until the kids are 10-11 years old at the earliest. Makes sense for schools or turf clubs to run the Milo cricket so that the kids can progress through the pathways at the schools/turf clubs. Later the premier clubs can pick the eyes out of the talent.

Love the last sentence there Tony.
That's exactly why other organisations have no respect for Grade Cricket anymore.
Self indulgent pigs.

Don't be ridiculous. That's the specific reason grade clubs exist.

Community clubs should be proud to see players progress, the same as grade clubs should be proud to see their players progress to higher levels, even though they won't play for the grade club anymore.[/quote] =D>

Community clubs do have a place in the cricket pathway, however they need to look at the big picture. So when the Australian selectors select a state player and SA picks a premier grade player, and a premier grade clubs picks a community club player (either junior or senior), isn't that what we want as a state :-k

As you all know SACA have nominated the Port Adelaide and West Torrens District Cricket Clubs as the two Club from which one will be eliminated from the 1st Grade (A Grade) competition in 2016/17, unless a meger of the two clubs is achieved.

The State Government is planning to establish a parliamentary committee to investigate the proposed merger in the Premier Cricket competition on May 18th.

We feel that this committee will unfairly target the Glenelg District Cricket Club and only cause more angst and pain in the local cricket community.

We are confident about Glenelg's position as a standalone club. Glenelg has elite players, a world-class ground and a strong community of people who love this club.

It is not the role of government to tell us to merge or close. No one spoke to us about the government's plans and our voice has deliberately been ignored up to this point.

How can you help us stop this?

Contact your state MP, the Government and Opposition and tell them that you oppose the committee.

Government Minister for Sport Leon Bignell: ministerleonbignell@sa.gov.au and 8226 1210

Opposition Shadow Minister for Sport Tim Whetstone: chaffey@parliament.sa.gov.au and 8582 4230

We appreciate your support in this matter and look forward to competing in the new season of the 12 team Premier league competition.

Regards,

Alan Scholz
GDCC Hon. Secretary

Does anyone know if this Parliamentary Enquiry has asked Glenelg to merge or close yet or unfairly targeted them?

Glad the battles can be played on the field now.

West Torrens vs Glenelg in both the short forms.

One Day Final at Henley Oval this Sunday at 11am
T20 Final at Adelaide Oval Sunday March 5th at 12 noon

Oyster and The Hound to have a cup of tea together at the change of innings.

A big win to West Torrens inside a day over Tea Tree Gully. With Port Adelaide putting on over 6/304 dec against Sturt they are in the box seat to win that one, as are Kensington against Uni. Glenelg should easily chase down the last 90 odd runs against Prospect and the top 4 will be set. All eyes will be on Price Memorial Oval next Saturday.

Good luck to the Eagles today in the One Day GF at Henley.

Also a great effort by Renshaw: 2/10 off his ten overs.
Tommy Plant has certainly done his best to put Glenelg back in the game, but will it be enough?

You b****** beauty!!!!!
Even sweeter than the Western Bulldogs flag!
Congrats to an amazing and wonderful bunch of guys!! From SuperCoach Mark Harrity to the littlest guy in the Under 13's, this club rocks!! To have SACA tell us where to go, to our first silverware in a decade, this is a sweet one. All the best to Dom Bess on his flight home to England: wins a flag and then has to be at the airport two hours later!!
Still possibly two more flags to come, but even if it is just this one we taste, I am a happy man!
Cheers

Well said BP, was an awesome day. See if we can back it up this Sunday in 20/20 Grand Final at Adelaide Oval. 20/20 is bit more hit and miss, as one player can dominate a game and win it for you, so really on the day anything can happen.

Not often a team gets a chance at genuine redemption so soon after as Glenelg will this Sunday in the T20 Final. I presume Sayers and Carey will come in for Glenelg and Richardson and Ferguson for West Torrens? Those ins probably cancel each other out. I wonder if Glenelg will bat first again if they win the toss?
