Looks like your plan to attack Smith has backfired Virat!

Haddin said it best. Australia may have lost the last test but angry India is what you want as you know you are getting to them. Gotta cash in here. Bat to stumps and then assess tomorrow.

Unfortunate to see that not one Indian player applauded Steve Smith's 100. @abcgrandstand #INDvAUS

You would take 300 first day of any test let alone in India on this pitch

Agree great day so far...... let's not lose one before stumps though

The cynic in me though say this is a batters dream and we have missed a chance today to go real real big 500-600. Without Starc it's hard to see us bowling thrmnout for under 400 lol

Handscombe was the only batter who got out to a decent ball today

4/299 at stumps. Very good start but still a long way to go, looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings us.

Yes, batting looks pretty easy at the moment. We have to bat to at least tea and hope the pitch turns nasty.

Great day. Get 400 plus and I reckon Hazlewood will be a handful on this pitch with LBWs. Hopefully Maxwell gets his century tomorrow - wonderful partnership with Smith. Kohli injured - will it effect his batting?

How good is Smith? I didn't think anyone would get close to Ponting or even at the same level as Clarke, but Smith may even end up the best Australian bat since Bradman. Just incredible.

I never picked it. Haddin was saying he faces more balls at practice than any other batsman he's seen. Determination and commitment. Exactly what you want to see from the Captain.

Was talking about Maxwell.
I read a damning stat that when Maxwell reached 74 he had the highest score for a Australian number 6 since Steve Smith in 2014 and that the last ton by a Aussie number 6 was Marcus North in 2010[emoji15]
