Local reports say Kohli has torn ligaments in his shoulder and won't take to the field or bat. The BCCI has disputed this and say it isn't that bad, clearly he has some issues though.

First ball,of the day breaks Maxwell's bat in two, not the handle coming adrift, but breaks the bat where it hits the ball. Incredible.

Great to see Maxwell make more runs than Marsh, and batting ahead of Wade.

Where's Sharma when it's tough? Not to be sighted.
Kohli left them rudderless upon his departure - he really is the heart and soul of that side.

Sharma has been like that for a while. He has all the tools but maybe its effort.

He's been like that since the start of his career. Never been any different.

So, in the eyes of the Indian Fan Boys, if we win this Test/Series it won't count as their Sacred Cowhli won't have been playing...

They have rated his injury as external which means Kohli can stay off as long as he likes and still bat in his normal position in the batting order. I'm sure the Aussies will give him a warm welcome

I can't see how that works, if he's off the field he's off the field.

And how is an internal ligament injury being deemed as an external blow?

And how is an internal ligament injury being deemed as an external blow?

The ICC's playing conditions state that if a player is absent from the field for longer than eight minutes, the player, "shall not be permitted to bat unless or until, in the aggregate, he has returned to the field and/or his side's innings has been in progress for at least that length of playing time for which he has been absent or, if earlier, when his side has lost five wickets."

However, the clause does not apply if the player has suffered "an external blow (as opposed to an internal injury such as a pulled muscle) whilst participating earlier in the match and consequently been forced to leave the field.
