I thought there were some positive signs. Perennial underachievers Murdoch and GHS played well even though they faded out of it. Motlop showed a real willingness to work hard which is what he needed. For once we didn't stick with Smith, Stanley and Blix and Stanley did a God job against lurch despite conceding the hit outs.

Others such as Cocky, Mackie, Ruggles and Menzel put in some solid shifts too. It was the best game for some time from Duncan and Dangerfield kicked straight and Tommy also had a good game. We will need to play better, that's true but compared to some teams we were fine. I really liked our defensive set up but not sure about the Harry Taylor expirement. It's got to be Henderson surely.

Always thought Henderson was better in defence, and is a longer term option for you back there?

I think that is what the club is thinking. I think Scott knows Harry up front isnt working as we would like hence the late quarter moves down back. We tried Stanley at CHF last year with Smith in ruck but that leaves us too top heavy. Stanley's best position is ruck so that leaves Smith as insurance. Having Boris and Taylor out of the backline and putting guys like Thurlow, Stewart and Touhy gives us a bit more run. The break even for Taylor is that Tom plays up the ground more and doesn't have two or three hanging off him and that was a achieved last night.

I hope the non selection of Smith continues and we play the extra runner. I just hope that selection move wasn't because of the venue.

Have given them a absolute bath today.
Round 1 was a perfect time to get them

Being so hot with 100% humidity would've helped their cause too, good win by the Crows no matter how you look at it, especially with the skipper missing out.

Sydney, Hawks and Saints face big tasks to avoid going 0-2 next week. Should that happen for any of them, gets tough playing catch up footy from as early as round 3. (Whilst I think Sydney will be alright, makes life real tough for the other 2)

There have been plenty of our supporters who questioned us taking McGrath but he been great. Massive crowd for his debut and given the big job on Breust. Held him to 1 goal and comprehensively beat him. Is being started in defence but will be used in the midfield before long

Not a Port fan but they played well. Did not rate them but am slowly turning. Powel-Pepper is a gun. The Crows awesome or are GWS overrated. All Crows players played well.
