Why not. Pretty sure Goodwood did it 2 seasons ago.

Didn't the ATCA create a temporary Bylaw to allow it when they went back to 12 teams per division? Goodwood won A3 the last year of 8 teams and most of them had to go up to form A2.

It wasn't a temporary bylaw.
The bylaw states that B Grade sides are not automatically promoted into A2 and any such promotion is at the discretion of the ATCA board.

The vast majority of people at our club want our B Grade to play A2 next season, and considering our B's did defeat every other team in A3 this season I would be surprised if we weren't allowed to go up.

just a little side note. i noticed Cooper Thompson with the whites on for Pooraka on the weekend (looked like Bgrade game) assuming he was 12th man as he wasnt named is this something we could be seeing next year in their A OR B Grade. currently another A grader at Northern Jets

Now i would seriously doubt Cooper would leave ND, his dad would kill him :D He may have just been helping mates.

One thing I will say with Pooraka, is that the $$ is only part of the reason for their success IMO. From what I have seen and heard, the atmosphere the club has produced is what is keeping blokes around, which is a credit to them. It appears the A grade right down to the last bloke picked socialise together and no doubt the have had has an enjoyable last few days.

Also well done to the Dizzies in A2 to win 10 on the trott is a huge effort after the slowish start to the season they had.

Pooraka's always had an atmosphere. every game i played there i have seen spectators there, or a BBQ going. not many clubs have that anymore. it helps being successful but i agree with all the above.

I also saw Cooper at Pooraka that day, heard he did the same Semi Final too. He's been around that club more often then not this season and has mates in both A & B grade. I've heard he's quite unhappy at Northerns and wouldn't surprise me if he is at another district club or Pooraka next season.

Some mighty fine stalwarts in their 60s 70s and possibly 80s now that are the backbone of the club, Kenny Greenwood is a legend of ATCA who scores down there, was also a trainer for footy back in 80s to mid 90s, those blokes are priceless. It's more of a catch for those blokes on a Saturday, the rest just follow, cook a barby and have a coldie with mates.
Plus they get to watch their club be a dominant force.
Lots of pain over the years as well, Pooraka have lost GFs and Semi finals, without checking I would say they have played more finals cricket than any other club over the past decade in A1 & A2.
Congrats to them and in perticular Jamie Jarrett who has seen it all.

I definitely knew Marks was moving there, Cooper I thought was a chance but wasn't exactly sure. I know he has lots of mates there and enjoyed it thoroughly. Question is whether he will fit into their A grade side?

don't think he does!

his bowling isn't outstandingly fast and he bats 11... he does bowl well but i don't think he gets in before travis, hanson, sticks, marks... the only thing that pooraka need is Shane warne or the GOAT lyon as the spinner...

Well, if the rumours are right, they'll be on the move somewhere, with or without Penfield.

I think it was mentioned further back in the thread that they're rumoured to be seeking a merger.

This is all rumour, but they're talking to Brahma or Mawson about a potential merger.
Amidst the discussions is they'll move back or have Penfield as a ground - is the oval still available there?

Near the Golf course?

Merger's don't work in cricket, you're either up and running or you're not.

I hope whatever is happening at Penfield, they can find a way to stay at Argana.

Pooraka an outstanding all round side and deserve the success they are getting.
Can never compare era's but would be a cracking game of cricket the current Pooraka side v Grange side from early 2000s that went 4 in a row.

Some big calls being thrown out there.
No doubt Pooraka are currently the measuring stick, and not many can get close to them right now.

However if you look over the last decade, for mine the order is as follows:

Grange - 4 A1 flags, 5 A1 GFs, 6 times A1 finals, 11 finals games in A1/A2.
PAOC - 2 A1 flags, 5 A1 GFs, 7 times A1 finals, 13 finals games in A1/A2.
Pooraka - 2 A1 flags, 2 A1 GFs, 4 times A1 finals, 9 finals games in A1/A2.

Interestingly, Pulteney (7 years ago) and AHOS (9 years ago) are the only other sides to have won the A1 flag in the last decade.
