I agree - i'm just a little torn between Houghton & TOS being one of the 3 that may be at the lower end.

Salisbury west had far better numbers than I thought they had so may not be the easy beats people were thinking.

I heard they hardly had a side half hour before B grade kicked off, then half a team of U18 kids rolled in.. and fair few played two games.

Heard they were reasonable in the A grade but depth could be a concern during the year.

Big shout out to The Ingle Farm with our trial yesterday. Bill and Pauly have a decent bunch of lads and the game yesterday was played in great spirits. Umpiring was good and they talked through the interpretations with the boys when it came up which was good. Game was let go in areas which was great to see. Best of luck to Paul and the boys this year. Your number 4 was brilliant yesterday and one to look out for, 11 Ruck-men switching with 36 from memory was a decent duo. Very impressed with IF yesterday. They got the Scab cup in the end and to be honest I was really happy for Bill and the club. Have a great year boys.

Thanks Satchel. And thanks to the Rosewater FC for putting on a great day in very hot conditions. Great idea to re-name the Bulldog Cup, the Grant "Scab" Burns Cup. Scab was a great man, loved by everyone and i'm sure he would have been watching over yesterdays game with a beer in his hands and a pair of thongs on his feet. The cup had only been played for 5 times since it inception in 2003, so it's a great idea to play for it every year now, whether that be trial game or home and away.
Good luck for 2017 to everyone involved at Rosewater. Will be keeping a close eye on you guys

Any trials this weekend or results from previously played trials?

Can't believe how quickly the season has come around definitely think it may have snuck up on a couple of clubs this year

Round 1 is finally here. Looks to be some really good games first up and I know there is always an overreaction after just 1 game is played but we could learn plenty after just one week.

Anyone willing to do some predictions for round 1

I think 14 or 15 will play A grade throughout the year and I would expect 10-11 of them to line up in their round one team this weekend.

Wow that is some impressive recruiting in one off-season there wouldn't be another team at this level which can boast brining in 10 players to play A grade in one year. If they haven't lost any quality players from last season they should get the job done against a Aish less Pulteney this weekend and prove very hard to beat all year.

Has anyone else been lucky enough to introduce top end talent in that amount?

They have brought in Giddings and Tucker though to replace Aish. Pulteney will be very hard to beat this year.

One hasn't played footy for 2 years going to take sometime before he finds his feet you would think. The other is from what I can find is a decent defender but had trouble with his body.

Think you will find most teams will have about 10 changes to their A grade side from last year, whether it's an actual improvement won't be known for a few weeks. Bring on Saturday, going to be a very tight and interesting comp this year!
