Well to say I wasn't expecting that would be a gross understatement. We were up for that from the opening bounce. Intensity great: constantly put Port under pressure and forced mistakes. Mostly kept up a high intensity for the whole game. I hope it is a sign of things to come.

Crowd just under 3k.

The irony of ferals with no skills abusing uni grads about Centrlink.

Some of the abuse tonight by "some" West supporters was nothing but a disgrace (near the players race).

They were seriously frothing at the mouth.

In a great defensive game, the Legs had just enough goal shooting breakthroughs to win.
So many games tonight proved that trial game form is a mockery.
North really looked the goods at times and I reckon their fans would be praying for an injury free
season given the Ressies result. A 16 goal loss would suggest a lack of depth that might prove hard
to cover for this well performing League line up if it loses too many quality cattle.

On the other hand, Norwood might have to drop a few League blokes and promote a few Reserves.
The guts, determination and game plan execution shown by those up & comers was a joy to behold.
It's always nice to believe you have enough stock to cover what the season may throw at you, but
of course, it's only round one and I believe Port's Ressies also had a bloody huge win.

Funny to think that this magoos match might be the most entertaining contest next weekend.
I'm truly looking forward to this clash despite my understanding of why 'Pseudo' and co. will
consider it a bye.

Very good win by Glenelg last night, they had more composure with the ball than we did. McBean looks a great pick up for them. Our backline was absolutely smashed. Glenelg has 27 scoring shots from 41 inside 50s to ports 20 from 57, just shows how easy Glenelg forwards had it. Arch was Ports best by a country mile, and Marshall is raw but looks like he could be anything. Pittard and Krak are clearly a class above SANFL level but they just didn't get enough of it to be damaging. Lobbe, Neade and Toumpas are a constant liability and the sooner they are moved on the better for Port.

Glenelg Oval is still a shit place to watch footy and the lights are substandard

How did Pittard go? Any reason he won't be in the AFL team next week?

Thought he was quite complimentary on the Bays. The Bay is a pretty good ground to watch footy at but have to agree the lighting is third world standard. If all the crowd turned on their iPhone torches it would give off better light

The lights are ordinary but to say Glenelg is a shit place to watch footy is laughable.

The facilities at the Bay are very poor. It's ok if you want to stand on the hill but apart from that it's a prick of a place to walk around, the stupid roped off barrel section in front of the stand where not even the Glenelg diehards can stand makes it very hard to walk through there. The "Games2u" van almost ran over 8 kids as it drove off at half time.

Each to their own, but Glenelg rates at the bottom of the away trips for me each season.

Happy South got the win last night. Overall and Haren both played reasonably well without Hollywood there.

I'm a bit concerned with how slow we moved the ball when switching play across half back it gave West plenty of time to set up behind the ball and we did it so often it clearly is part of the game plan. Seems a bit outdated I think the good teams will do the quick long kick across the ground at 45 degrees to open up the play and score quickly.

With no Bass, Gulden, Veide, Brown, Rolfe & Redigolo playing tonight there is definitely room for improvement. Impressed with new recruit Davis can take a mark has a good kick on him and doesn't mind getting his own ball, will be a good asset to help Cross, Liddle and Gotch.

Gotch last quarter was massive 2 goals and a couple of big tackles in the centre square to give south the momentum but as soon as we went defensive West almost pinched the game from us.

Anyone know the Crowd number for the game?

Mixed bag for Irra last night. 14 disposals but largely ineffective. Showed some good run at times but fumbled a lot. Don't think he'll ever make it at AFL level but has the potential to be a decent SANFL player, though I've thought that for a few years now.
